Day one is down! That was a whole lot of talking and paperwork. Seriously, my hand is still sore from all the papers I had to fill out. But I'm official and everything! The safety guy could seriously talk though, and then we had to do pictures and get them printed on our badges, so I didn't get out of HR until around 1pm.
As a result, we didn't get much more than a welcome speech at the job site. Our Battalion Cheif came down to talk to us and go over a few things. One thing I did find is that our training is 7 weeks, not the four I originally was told, so that made me happy. More training is always a good thing, plus I was concerned about trying to cram all the information in 4 weeks. Seven sounds less daunting.
Today, the real work will start!
The nice thing is the commute is not bad at all. It's an easy drive up Bel Air Road, which is good. Traffic wasn't bad, it only took me about 25 minutes. Of course, that meant that I left super early for no real reason and was at the HR building about 40 minutes early. Go team me. The Chief was all about us being early for training "If it's 8, you're late," so I'm still going to leave early, but maybe not quite as early.
Tonight, on my way home, I'm going to stop for dinner and get something swanky to celebrate. I'm also going to put in a little Costco order for some easy dinners for Jess to make. Maybe their lasagna and a couple of other things. This weekend, I'll sit down and figure out what we want for the next couple of weeks and put in that order.
Okay, going to go get myself together! Have an excellent Tuesday!
