It's back to work day, but since I feel like I actually had a weekend, I don't feel so bad about it. Between game on Friday and an excellent adventure yesterday, I had a very good weekend.

I didn't really talk about our Friday game yesterday, but it was buck wild. The characters went for the long awaited dinner with Strahd. Joining them at this dinner was various people from their backstories. Some beloved, some hated, and some a mixture of the two. For me, it was some of the heaviest lifting I've had to do narratively. By the end, my voice was very tired, as I was playing 9 characters and juggling 8 backstories. It went pretty well. I traumatized many characters, which was awesome.

I nearly outright downed our warlock, who's brother had undergone a ritual and become a horrible snake beast and required "Just a bite. Just a tiny bite." Then, I scored a critical hit on my "little bite." and would have done 60 points of damage. Fortunately, our bard was ready and cast Silvery Barbs to make him reroll, which was a crit fail, so the warlock took no damage at all.

And the monk's abusive father was there, trying to sell the idea that no, he wasn't a rapist, she was just "troubled." She had him down to 15 HP before the above snake fight stirred up, and she went to protect the warlock.

It was wild, but so much fun!

Then yesterday, we made the trek to the Philadelphia suburbs to meet up with [personal profile] poisontaster and [personal profile] chaneen for lunch at DanDan in Ardmore.

Their menu looked so amazing that we had to try it out. We had a plethora of appetizers, as I could not decide between them. I had never had soup dumplings, but I understood the theory, and decided to try them. OMG, so good. Steaming hot little bites of perfection. I really loved them. And duck bao. I love duck, and the sauce was so delicious. They gave you so much food. I was able to split the second bao in half and share it and not feel like I'd lost out of anything. I was SO full. I also had a pork belly slider with pickled mustard greens and peanut dust, which was also really tasty. We finished it out with crispy spicy cucumbers, which were indeed a bit spicy, but oh so yummy. Jess had cumin lamb with hand ripped noodles, which they loved. They were spicy as hell, but they managed to eat about half of it. [personal profile] poisontaster got a the spicy and sour ribeye pot and the scallion pancakes. Both were excellent, but those pancakes were especially nice. Just a little greasy and perfectly fried.

[personal profile] chaneen was a little bit late owing to a dead battery, but she arrived in time to have the scallion pancakes and soup dumplings.

After lunch, we went to a bakery and chatted some more. All in all, it was a wonderful time, and I was so happy to see everyone (and to meet [personal profile] chaneen in person for the first time!)

Driving home was a little rough as the storms they'd been predicting hit us, but we just went slowly and all was good.

All in all, it was amazing to get out of the house and see friends for a change! Definitely going to do that more often.

Okay, time to get ready for work. Everyone have a wonderful Sunday!
