I actually slept last night, and now I feel like someone whacked me upside the head with a baseball bat. This usually happens when I sleep like shit. The next night, after I finally sleep is when I feel like total shit. I'll get over it with a few cups of coffee, but it's annoying.
Dad continues to do well. He's usually a bit confused when he first wakes up, but once he's fully awake, he's usually pretty good. We haven't been able to get his TV up, so he's been watching on his tablet. Hopefully, my BIL will be able to bring his drill over so that we can get the screws into the studs. I feel bad that he doesn't have more interactivity.
Today, his new visiting primary care doctor is stopping by for his intake appointment. I'm not looking forward to having someone judging my house, and how I take care of my father. We're doing our best all around. But I am looking forward to having someone who can visit, so there's not the specter of eventually needing to take him somewhere for an appointment. Next up, I can call the in-home podiatrist and get that taken care of. I took 3 hours off this morning, so Jess doesn't have to deal with the dog and the doctor.
It's my inbox day, so who knows what I'm going to get in to. I posted in our Teams chat that I was coming in late, so all help would be appreciated, but that doesn't necessarily mean anyone will.
I hate that I keep digging into my PTO for this. Okay, it's more that I resent that I'm the only one dipping into my PTO. I know my sister is a manager, and she just had one of her employees fired, and that right now it's just her and her front desk person, but good lord. Some help would be amazing. She's looking for work from home jobs, which sounds like it would be less than ideal for Jess and my sanity, but it would help a lot with Dad.
Yesterday, I settled in to read a book for a couple of minutes, and totally lost track of time. Next thing I knew, it was 6pm, and I'd forgotten to make dinner. lol. We had hotdogs, so not all was lost. It's been forever since I did that, though. It's really nice to be able to get lost in something again. Right now, I'm working on Jim Hines' Princess books. I just finished the Stepsister Scheme. I'd read them years ago, but I didn't really remember much of them. Next up, I may reread some of Ursula Vernon's books. Maybe Bryony and Roses or Nettle and Bone. The kindle is holding a charge really well. It's still over 50% despite me having finished like four books on it. The only drawback is my tendency to say "just one more chapter" at bedtime. I've got it tinted warm, so the blue light isn't bad, at least.
Okay, going to go get myself together and start this day. Everyone have a tremendous Tuesday!
