Seemed like a good day for a little Leonard Cohen for our subject line. It's one where you hear it, and whether you like it or not, you will find yourself humming it a day or two later, especially the Neville Brothers version.
Like a lot of Cohen's songs, it's not necessarily a happy song, but it's wistful and a little hopeful and hurts in the best way. If I was a vidder, I would totally have made one to it. Maybe A Dean/Castiel. It'd be great for the pining. (It was also the title of a movie made by shitty people (Mel Gibson), but my vague recollections of the plot provide me with memories of s many "isms" that I have no urge to see it ever again.
I slept for shit last night. After a long day of Dad having been uncomfortable in his chair (which he sits in for 11 hours a day, y'think that might be uncomfortable??) and generally being a little fussy, Jess and I needed to get out of the huose. I had a bit of a migraine, so we decided to stick close to home, and decided on a little El Salvadorean restaurant that was nearby. We had gone for takeout during the pandemic, but we had kind of forgotten about it somehow.
It's not very big, and it was fairly busy, but we decided to go for it. May I just say, we were the palest people in there by several degrees on the color wheel. It felt a little like we ere trespassing, but the lure of food was strong. Plus, I've always been told that if you go into an ethnic restaurant, and there's people from that culture eating there, it's probably a good representation of the cuisine.
They sadly did not have Mexican Hot coccoa, but instead, the waitress suggested another hot drink, Atol De Elote, which is a drink made of corn, milk, sugar, vanilla and cinnamon. It was different, but really tasty. It came in an enormous mug, so Jess and I split it.
Then, sweet tamale corncakes. They changed the recipe on this one, and it wasn't quite as good as I remembered. Still really tasty, though. Then, it was time for Chorizo. Jess got Chorizo tacos, and I got huevo's con chorizo.
Oh, lord, there was so much food. I ate a good half of my eggs and it doesn't look like I touched it. Jess had to bring home a taco because they were absolutely overstuffed with this delightful homemade chorizo.
Unfortunately, once I got into bed, I could not sleep to save my life. I finally dozed off around 2:30, which was not ideal with a 6am alarm.
Today, I shall have more projects to work on. my Former!manager dropped two in my lap. Once was a PowerPoint about the life cycle of a case. It's really basic information and something that people should really already know. I felt like I was explaining it to a kindergarten class. However, Former!manager loved it, so I guess I wasn't too condescending. He promptly showed it to his manager, so apparently, it's going to make the rounds. (But I'm not qualified to be knowledge specialist.)
The other project is just a list of pickups that were scheduled wrong and need to be redone correctly. Of course, it's also 125 orders that need that treatment. so it is taking some time.
Okay, I'm running late today. Gotta go get myself together. Everyone have a wonderful Tuesday!
