Happy Labor Day everyone! I hope everyone has a lovely extra day off (if you get one). Being retail, I do not. However, I do get time and a half, which I will gratefully accept. I can definitely use the extra $50.

Yesterday, I had the worst headache. I managed to get through work, but ended up cancelling our game. I thought about trying to butch it out, but I would most certainly not have been at my best, and my players deserve better than that. I don't get full blown migraines that often, but when I do, the only thing to do is go to bed and maybe watch a movie on my phone for distraction. The screen was a little painful, but my brain was racing too hard to just lay there. Probably a consequence of the coffee I had around 2 to try to be awake for the game.

The trick with migraine movies is to pick something you've seen before, so you don't have to pay that much attention, but something pretty and that you really enjoy. Last night's movie was the 2004 masterpiece Phantom of the Opera movie. I unironically love it. Yes, Gerard Butler hits some truly appalling notes, but the movie is so fucking pretty, and the cast is gorgeous. Patrick Wilson is a good enough actor (and pretty enough) that I believed that Christine picked Raoul over the Phantom. (Not a choice I would have made, but hey.). And Gerry's Phantom was so fucking feral and over the top, as opposed to being the dark broody romance novel hero (TM Jess) that he is in other productions. And hey, Gerard Butler at his hottest in that mask, or with his mild sunburn deformity. Seriously, I'd have hit that. And Emmy Rossum is just pretty and had a lovely voice, and made a perfect wide eyed ingenue, but my god, too young. I love in Point of No Return, you can almost see Gerard Butler's discomfort at having to sexily manhandle a 17 year old. All in all, awesome, will most certainly watch again when I need a comfort movie.

By the time the last stirring chord played, I had chilled out a bit, and went to sleep, so that was good. Today, my head is just a little tender, but I think Ibuprofen will set me right. It should be a very quiet day at work, nothing will come in until tomorrow, so I will be very bored, most likely. But I'll be bored at time and a half, so that's all that matters.

Okay, I suppose I will wrap this up and get myself together for work. Everyone have a lovely Labor Day (or an awesome Monday!).

sorry about your head yesterday - that's no fun!

I hope your day isn't *too* boring, and you can do something enjoyable with the OT
