beansideThis 5AM shit is for the birds. It's Thursday, so into the office I go. I actually slept in a little. My alarm went off at 5, and I couldn't quite get myself out of bed, so I dozed for an extra few minutes before I dragged my butt up. We're still under a mask mandate, which is nice.
I left everything that came in during the afternoon, so I have something to do this morning. It seems like the coworker who has Delivery Updates is actually coming in today, so I won't have that to rely on. We also have a reprise of the "Don't fuck your coworker" training this morning. Apparently online was not good enough. We have to do it face to face. Ugh.
They finally scheduled the one on one's where we'll find out what we're going to be doing in the reorg. Of course, mine isn't scheduled 'til Thursday, so I'll have a whole week of waiting. I also will be stuck doing mine face to face, so that's a little annoying. My coworker and I are wondering if there's significance to the face to face. Are we getting a different offer? Or are we just the ones who are projected to take it the best? It's only a half hour appointment, which seems really short, though I suppose there's not a whole lot to talk about. It's pretty much a "take it or leave it" type of thing. I'm definitely going to take it. I'll probably apply to any jobs that look interesting in addition, which we're encouraged to do. If I'm lucky, I can get on a chat job, where I don't have to speak to people. I'm a fast typist, so it would be a good fit.
Sorry, that means I'll be bitching about this til at least next Friday's entry. We have a team meeting on Monday, at which point I'm hoping there's a little more definitive information. So far, it seems like each manager has different info, which has increased the stress level. The new job wouldn't start til Sept...or Jan? No one's quite sure of the exact timeline, either. Ugh, this was SO poorly done. Just such a clusterfuck.
In happy news, I finally managed to get through to Disney, and we are now officially booked. It took 45 minutes on hold, but I eventually got through to a lovely woman named Brooklyn who got me a decent package deal 6 days of tickets, club level at the Polynesian Resort for 8 nights. It took a couple of hours for the website to update, which freaked me out a bit, but eventually, everything showed up, and I went in and booked my park reservations. (Since COVID, they've put a cap on how many people they allow in the park, so you need both a ticket and a reservation for the park you want to go to.) Since the parks do sometimes sell out, I've been wanting to get that done. We're doing 5 park days with a resort day in the middle. I got tickets for 6 days so if we don't feel like we need the resort day (unlikely) we can go to a park. I love being able to go look at the website and see our plans showing up. It gives me an instant de-stress. We're down to 240 days until Disney. Technically 239 until we leave, but we're breaking the drive into two days. I'm good for about 7 or so hours in the car before it's too much and it's a 14 hour drive.
Guess I need to get myself together for work. My Pride shirts came in, so I'm definitely wearing one of them. I got three, one for each remaining week of the month. Today's will be one that simply says "You belong" in rainbow colors. I'm still peeved that the one from Hot Topic was too small. I really liked that one best, but oh well. These will have to do.
