I swear, Sunday mornings are always so quiet. Even the dog is still asleep. I like it, but it's also always a little weird. But it's nice to have time to wake up without having to deal with human interaction. (Jess does not count as they're my Jess and they always get a pass.) It's back to work today, yay. I don't expect it to be a horribly busy day, but that can always change. I checked my work email last night, just to see if anything came up. Apparently we're changing the name of the center to the Remote Customer Meeting Point. I don't know if they see the irony in it being remote when we're back in the office part time.

I did one adulty thing yesterday. My sister forgot to bring home the paperwork I needed to fill out for my neuro appointment on Monday, so I headed over to the FedEx store to print it out. I was actually surprised at how easy it was. I sent the PDF to the FedEx email and got an email back with a code. Went to the machine and punched in the code, and it was printed a minute later. As someone who started out on WebTV, sometimes technology still impresses me.

A few months ago, the site we use to play D&D had a module up for free. It's basically babies first module, made to introduce players to D&D, but it seems like it could also be a lot of fun. It's been burning a hole in my proverbial pocket, so yesterday, I couldn't take it any longer and put out the call for players. This'll make five ongoing games, which seems like a lot, but I'm having so much fun! It'll happen once a month on a Saturday afternoon, so that shouldn't be too bad.

I've been DMing for over 18 months now, but it still somehow surprises me when people want to play in my games. It looks like we're going to have 8-9 people in this one, and two will be new people! Two of my regulars invited friends of theirs to join! It gave me warm fuzzies that they trust me with their friends. And apparently my regular crew is not sick of me either! I look forward to seeing how we can break the game together.

We played our longest running game yesterday, Monster of the Week, which probably has the most backstory. As [personal profile] poisontaster said, I'm really putting the screws to them in this one. All of their prior decisions are coming back to haunt them in a big way.

The hunters started out with one of the seven deadly sins yet to go. Gluttony is a truther podcaster, whipping up the populace into a hoarding frenzy. The team find out where he tapes his podcast, and set up shop at a cafe across the street. The Apprentice and the Divine go to check out the studio, playing the part of mega fans who just want to see the space that the great Rick Todd tapes his show out of. This was utterly hysterical and I needed a shot of my inhaler from laughing too hard. Then, they split up, with half the party watching, and half going to an abandoned building where they created a devil's trap. The plan was to lure the demon over there and take care of it.

Instead, the demon walked up and sat next to them in the cafe. He offered them a deal, promising that he, unlike his sibling sins, didn't plan to kill anyone. He was a good demon, such as it was. He promised to leave them alone if they'd do the same for him. He pointed out that they had bigger fish to fry, what with the Deputy Mayor trying to whip up the populace for the coming of Abbadon and the impending mob war (which they inadvertently may have touched off).

After some agonizing, and a Don't Look Here spell, the team failed to banish the demon, and the Apprentice snapped, putting two bullets in his face. The Don't Look spell failed to cover this, and they took the fight in the alley.

The Sorcerer attempted to smooth things over with the panicked locals, who squinted at his unnaturally green eyes (a gift from the Summer Court of Faerie) and pegged him as a potential supernatural creature. He eventually talked his way out of it, and the fight was joined. The team quickly realized that the demon was shrugging off the damage because he had spelled someone to take it for him, and the Divine and the Expert went to save his victims.

With that dealt with, the Divine went to fetch the Deputy Mayor to come help. The demon inflicted some damage, but the team was victorious! Then, they dealt with the locals who were in the process of forming a mob to lay the smack down on the team, believing that they were the supernatural creatures the Deputy Mayor had told them to guard against. A few stellar rolls and a illusion of police uniforms later, they convinced the locals to disperse.

We ended it there, after wrapping up a few loose ends, and leaving the proverbial sword of Damocles hanging over their heads.

And now, it is time to get dressed and get myself together for work. Everyone have a great Sunday!
