Across the water, across the land
Pfizer day three: Wow, my arm hurts. The rest of me seems to be falling back in line. I kept a bland diet yesterday that did the trick for the stomach issues, and the fever and chills seem to be gone, but my arm hurts like a son of a bitch. It's funny, because I didn't even feel the shot. The nurse who did it was so fucking good, I didn't feel a thing. I wouldn't have known I had it if it weren't for the band-aid. Verdict-Totally worth it.
Spent most of yesterday training the two women how to do the delivery updates. I don't know how that is going to go. They're half an hour in, and haven't texted me, so maybe it's going okay? I plan to slip onto Teams in incognito mode and check on them in an hour or so. I specifically put myself in Out of office mode so no one would be able to see that I'm on.
Of course, while I was training them, the updates were bugfuck insane yesterday. We had four late trailers, all of which needed to be rescheduled. I don't know how they're going to get all of them done, plus whatever comes in today.
Today, we shall watch Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and probably Godzilla vs Kong. This is assuming the dog moves and lets me sit next to Jess at some point. The seat beside them is prime real estate.
Jess had their shot yesterday (so far, just generally achy and blah), so the family is officially halfway vaccinated. I get my second one first on 4/19 and the rest go from there. Because Dad got the Moderna shot, he doesn't go back until 4/22. I should be in good shape with a sore arm from three days before, trying to push him in the wheelchair.

(on a more selfish level, my arm also hurt a staggering amount. Like so much so that I kept looking at it in disbelief, quietly muttering in my inner monologue "I have a really high pain tolerance. How do you not know this? How are you overriding it, because I cannot imagine that a shot actually hurt this much.)
FWIW, I slept like the dead the first two nights after my first dose, which, as a person with insomnia since the first decade of this century, was almost as incomprehensible.
Two tips that helped me with dose two: I iced my arm. Not immediately afterwards because waiting period and it didn't hurt at first, but I did ice it three times the first day.
My arm *hurt just as much* after the second dose, but it hurt that much for a much shorter period of time. Like the first dose was 3-4 days of "Why is someone still sticking a knife in my arm and twisting it viciously?" followed by another day or two of "Somebody gave me three flu shots and two tetanus shots three days ago, so please don't even touch that arm yet" levels of pain. By 5-6 days out, it was down to the day after a flu shot levels, but I continued to be gobsmacked by just how much it hurt.
The second dose of the vaccine--which remember was the vaccine with me icing frequently afterwards--was only *24 hours* of "someone is again sticking a knife into my arm and twisting--or at least using a knife to gently shred every layer of muscle deep in my arm until it is an aching wreck that cannot even lift a blanket over me in bed."
It only throbbed in pain even when I held still for several hours instead of several days. I was totally willing to take that improvement.
I also did take Tylenol after the shot on Dose 2--partly because I heard that ibuprofen tamped down the immune response, and as much as I didn't want to be miserable, I wanted the strongest immune response possible.
I am still somewhat jealous of people I know who had much less dramatic immune responses. FWIW, I think my lymph nodes on that side are still slightly swollen.
On the other hand, if I hadn't had all those responses, I would be worried that I hadn't responded to the vaccine.
Here's hoping that Dose 2 goes more smoothly for you.

I'm finally down to day after flu shot levels, which is a nice change.
I'm hoping since I had Covid, shot #2 will be a little less dramatic.
