So, we got a little snow, but not much. A few inches, followed by freezing rain and regular rain, which has made an icy crust on top of the snow. It's not going to get warm enough to melt it over the next few days, and I am cringing at the thought of cleaning the car off to get out to get my cupcakes.

But a the same time, I can't in good conscience ask someone to deliver to our questionably plowed street, so off I go. Plus, I want to pick my own cupcakes, and they're a popular store, so they're frequently out of some of the flavors. They seem to default to chocolate when they're out of something, and I'm not a huge chocolate fan. I want my amaretto cupcakes, dammit.

My D&D group is awesome. We have a couple of newbies, and when they have questions, someone's always there to talk them through it. It's grown to 10 people, which is a lot. Encounters will definitely be scaled up. I'm hoping that it works out like my MotW group, where everyone is courteous and lets the others have their moments. A lot of my little chaos muppets are also in MotW, so I think it'll work out. It's going to be interesting either way. Plus, I figure there's a good chance of one or two dropouts after the first session. People either don't like the game, or my DM style. Which is perfectly understandable. Everyone has a mental image of what the game will be like that I have no chance of matching up with. Either they decide it's okay, or it's a dealbreaker. I don't blame them, and I don't take it personally. I just hope I do okay for the majority of people.

I'm a pretty laid back DM, I think. I try to fall somewhere between Alexander Newall from Rusty Quill and Griffin McElroy from the Adventure Zone. I don't think I'm actually as good as either of them, but that's who I aspire to. I've recently started listening to Critical Role, and I am definitely not as good as Matt Mercer, but Jess reminds me that he's been doing this 20 years, and has had time to get that good. I'm happy to let my players do their thing, and just provide the story hooks for them to take or not as they see fit. Sometimes, this means they miss a few clues, but they get there in the end. I believe in being a fan of my players and their characters.

I think it will be great, and you are an awesome GM :)

A useless Matt Mercer fact I learned recently: apparently it's family tradition. Darin De Paul, the voice actor who turns up as a guest star in some CR episodes and whom MM worked with on Overwatch and some other video games, got involved in part because he used to play d&d back in the 70s/80s with Matt's mother.

Which is always a nice factoid to rub in the noses of the rpgs-are-for-boys dickheads. :)

Happy cupcaking!
