How’s y’all’s week been going?

Turns out, after a frankly unpleasant and invasive test, I have COVID. Go team me. I don’t seem to have that bad of a case thus far. Coughing and fever, mostly. Jess, who also had nostril violation, seems to have a little cough, but mostly crushing fatigue.

I’m having daily televisits with my doctor, and he’s monitoring closely, because I’m diabetic and have asthma. I have a nebulizer, and everything I could need to ride this out. And of course, if things get rough we have several excellent hospitals nearby.

Exceedingly glad for all the positives. Clinging like glue to you both from afar, just so you know.

so now you've added to our DMV positive stats, at least you know now. I'm glad you're able to get treatment right away and that you have Jess there with you. Feel better soon!

I haven't been on DW in a while. So I read these in reverse order (Which means that you are in the "This really SUCKS." phase, for which I am also sorry.

I have only had a naso-pharyngeal (sp?) swab done once, but they are not kidding about the unpleasantness, which, frankly, was early on why I was HUGELY skeptical about the accuracy of at home kits for Covid 19.

(I had one done for the flu when I had what turned out to be strep and bronchitis and laryngitis all at the same time, and which I do not recommend, but which still sounds less unpleasant than covid 19.)

At any rate, I wouldn't recommend it now, but the podcast Sawbones' second episode on coronavirus basically described the swab as "someone sticking an extra long q-tip WAY farther back in your nose than it seems like anyone should.)

The doc then went on to say that she's been trained to do those swabs, and she doesn't think she could do on to herself. i may have fist pumped while listening to it because, frankly, that was my first thought too. I completely agreed (even though I also lack any training.) I think the only reason I got through mine without flinching was that I didn't know what was coming. I am willing to bet that anyone who's had one done once would be much harder to test a second time.

At any rate, I am super sorry you're both going through this. I hope the Q-tip to the brain is the worst you have to suffer through.
