We survived Monday! As expected, we were super busy, and I was all talked out by the time the day ended. I ended up doing 60 calls instead of the 40 they're expecting us to. It was a lot. By the end of the day, I was so sick of talking that I swore I was going to take a vow of silence for the rest of the night. I didn't, but damn.
Instead, I made dinner and chatted with Jess. Then, later in the night, I decided to write down the concept for my New Year's Eve game. I wanted to be able to post the link, so people could start thinking about their characters. I set it a little bit later than I was going to, because the I wanted it to reference certain things, so it's set in the late Victorian Era. It's funny, normally I have so much trouble writing. If I tried to write fiction, I'd sit there for an hour and not have anything down on the page. But if I'm writing a D&D treatment, I can type freely. In ten minutes, I had a couple of paragraphs that I'm really happy with.
I ripped the term "mentath" shamelessly off Lilith Saintcrow, but set it later than her Bannon and Clare books. I still have to figure out the exact mystery, though I have a couple of ideas, though both will require research. The blurb can be found right here if anyone is interested. I already have 8 players, which is a lot, and it's only been open for 12 hours. I'm going to cap it at 10, because that's pretty much my limit. I would have limited it to 6 if it weren't the NYE game.
I say I'll do some research, but that's very flexible. I'll probably skim the text and then throw everything in the air and see how things fall. I'm a big fan of letting the players tell me what they want to do. The game starts at 10pm, so I'll need to take a nap after work to keep going til 1am, which is when. our Central time players will celebrate the new year.
