Happy Solstice y'all! The longest night of the year is over, and from here on out, each day will bring a little more light into our lives. Of the pagan holidays, I always love Winter Solstice, Samhain and Beltane the most. Samhain is the time of letting go of what no longer serves you, Beltane is full of life and possibility. But the Solstice...that's celebrating the slow return of life and light. It's a promise that even the longest, darkest night will end. So, here's to those of us who are eagerly waiting for that glimmer of dawn, and for the light to return anew.

I have come to the conclusion that our D&D server collectively has no life. Including last night's Brindlewood Bay game, we have games for the next six nights in a row. Tonight is Strahd, then the weekend belongs to winter themed one shots, courtesy of [personal profile] poisontaster. Then on Christmas night, I'm running a solstice themed one shot. We have a couple of days off after Christmas, then we're right back into it on Thursday. Right now, there's no games on Friday or Saturday, but that will change, I have no doubt. Sunday, I'm running a late evening game, with the goal of ringing in the new year with a Monster of the Week mystery.

The true test of this was yesterday, though. I've been pondering running another campaign. Nothing major, just a once a month Saturday campaign. Then, PT came up with a character idea that really needed a campaign. So, I did some more research. And I found one that sounded promising. It's a campaign based in Greek Mythology, which I haven't really played with much.

So, I put tentative feelers out and mentioned the possibility of the campaign, mentioning that it would be sometime after the new year, because I had to wait for a job to be able to afford it. Within 30 seconds, I had six players like "You have my axe," and someone had anonymously gifted me the module. So, I guess I'm running a game starting in February.

Now I did this in the middle of the day, on a Wednesday, and by the time we hit close of business, I'd upped my player cap twice. Even after four years and a myriad of games, I still have that nervousness when I put out about a new game, be it one shot or campaign. The kid who was in public school gym class is convinced that no one will pick me. (Except Jess, but they have to. It was in the wedding vows.) So for everyone to stop what they were doing and jump on it like that always is really cool. It's always nice to tell one's jerkbrain to STFU.

Okay, about time for me to consider the merits of pants. (Pants are bullshit.) But, I want to go get cheese danishes, which means a trip outside. People really want you to wear pants for that. Plus it's like 32 degrees, so jeans it is. Everyone have an amazing Thursday!
