Up early on a Saturday, boo. But the cat was determined that I get up, so here I am. Every ten minutes or so, she was bouncing off me, demanding that I pay attention. Then, when I'd start petting here, she'd allow it for a moment, then go careening off. Little shit. Once I got up and fed her, she was happy. She usually does that to Jess when she's ready for her second breakfast, not me, so I guess she was hungry.
I was kinda happy that she was being a little shit, honestly. She seemed a little out of sorts yesterday, threw up once and then scooted her butt a little bit. She seemed fine otherwise, and it was only one time for each, but I spent the rest of the day convinced that there was something wrong, and we weren't going to be able to afford the emergency vet. Anxiety is a wonderful thing.
It's a three game weekend, two that I'm DMing and one that I'm just playing in. I've gotta get myself together this morning, because thanks to the car situation, I'm going to have to go see him around 10am, since I have a game at 12, and my sister has a birthday party for a friend's kid who she's basically adopted as her niece at 2. Since we have no idea how late she'll be, I'd rather go in the morning. Maybe I'll leave a little early and stop at McDonalds and get him a sausage mcMuffin. He'd like that. Of course, going over early, there's the chance he'll be in therapy, but I'll have to risk it.
I'm not sure how we're working it tomorrow, since it would be my sister's day, but also is laundry day, which she does. Sometimes after hauling all the clothes and doing them, she's a little sore, but tomorrow I have work, then a game, so I'm definitely not going to be able to go. This would put my days this week as M,W,F, which could be doable, if I uber over during the day on Friday. Sunday could again be sticky, since we do have a game, but we'll figure it out.
Last night we played "A Night of Masks and Monsters," which was offered free when DMsGuild and Roll20 started their partnership. Our intrepid heroes were gifted with a free vacation, and invited to an opulent masquerade ball. They went to (of course) find that things were not as they seemed, and walked right in the middle of a fight between Celestials and Demons. The game was fun, with just enough fucked up stuff to be interesting. The one thing was that they made the bad guy kind of ludicrously tough. He was a cambion, which is a type of demon, and his AC, which is how hard it is to hit him, was 19. (Lower is easier to hit. 19 is very tough, especially for 3rd level characters.). He also had a fire ray, which did an average of 12 points of damage, which he could use twice a round. The party's fighter has 25 hit points. Fighters usually have the highest hit points, so you can see how it could have gone really badly.
Fortunately, no one could hit for shit. The combat went like six rounds, and I swear, the last three rounds the bad guy had six hit points left, but no one could freaking hit him. It was like the keystone cops. I could hear the Benny Hill theme in my head. Finally, the rogue landed a hit for 16 points of damage, and put him down.
Today's game is Dragon Heist, which should be fun. The players are hot on the heels of a stone that will unlock a fortune beyond their wildest dreams. It should be a lot of fun!
For now, I suppose it's time to consider more coffee and maybe pants. Maybe. Everyone have the best Saturday!
