Greetings from Covid-land. Population, still just one. My sister has been staying in her room, with on call masked maids. We've been wearing a mask around dad. So far, it goes okay.
I decided to call out from work today. The IKEA protocol is to come in, answer questions about your Covid status, and they'll decide from there whether you're allowed to stay. This is completely asinine. Why would you want the exposed or even symptomatic person to come in at all? It makes no sense. So, unwilling to be a potential patient zero, I called out. My luck, they'd have said that since I was vaccinated, it was okay for me to work.
We've survived day 1 of quarantine, though it's going to be a lot of work for Jess and I. And it's yet again worrying me about how my sister is going to do with him solo for a whole week. But honestly, this vacation has been on the books for over a year now. She had time to plan. So I'm going to go and try not to worry about it.
29 days til departure! We've crossed the 30 day threshold!
Tomorrow, I'm supposed to go get my eyes checked, but I will call today and cancel that, since I don't want to risk exposing some poor optometrist. I know the CDC doesn't think I need to quarantine, but I'm gonna anyway. I was hoping to have new glasses by Disney, but that's probably not going to happen. I don't think my eyes have changed that much. Mostly, i just need bifocals, because I'm old. I held out the last two visits, but now I have to admit that I need them.
We ended up cancelling out Curse of Strahd game for tomorrow night, because that would just have been too difficult. Jess would have had to play in the living room and Dad is not good at respecting boundaries. Plus, we would have had to take an extended break to put him to bed mid game. One of the other players wasn't able to make it, so I don't feel as bad. Rescheduling is going to be a bitch though. With us going away for two whole weekends, Feb is going to be at a premium.
Okay, time to go slap a mask on and go check on my sister, sounds like she's awake. Everyone have a wonderful Thursday!
