It's Tuesday! The week is creeping along. Yesterday wasn't as bad as I expected. I ended up volunteering to take on the inbox, because there were a lot of one type of report and only two people to do them. One of those two people was assigned to the inbox. I could have offered to do the reports, but I hate them, so I said I'd do the inbox instead. It gave me something to do most of the day, too. It wasn't too busy, so I was still a bit bored here and there, but it was better than nothing.

Today, I should have my reports to do in the morning at least. Probably not much to do the rest of the day, but we'll see. The managers have decided that it's time for another "learning session" with the transport companies. This time, we're including one of our biggest complainers in the session, so this should be entertaining if nothing else. It's on Thursday, when we're in the office, which is unfortunate, since I really want popcorn for it. (This is the same person who compared our jobs to the slaves in Egypt, I should note.) It's going to be a total shitshow and I'm here for it.

The same coworker posted in the team chat that she got two turndowns for jobs she'd applied for, and others chimed in as well. Apparently yesterday was the day for that. I got a turndown for one I'd applied for, but not for the one I'd interviewed for. I was kind of surprised by some of the people who got turned down out of hand without ever getting an interview. It really makes you feel like they knew who they wanted for those jobs and posting was just a formality. I'm still not expecting much from the one I interviewed for, honestly. I think I got the interview because of a good resume and cover letter, honestly.

Three more days to the next D&D game! I go to Roll20 every morning and watch it count down. I'm still nervous about this one, but re-reading the module has helped some. I'm on a Curse of Strahd discord, and the DM chat channel has helped some, too. I'm just nervous about being able to set the appropriate tone. It's meant to be gothic horror, and I've only run adventure modules. This includes bastardizing Frostmaiden, which was technically meant to be more of a survival horror game. As I've run it, it's more of a fluffy adventure romp. So, I'm a little concerned about my ability to set the scene, as it was. The module is all about making hard choices, where there's no good answer, and I want those to have an impact. I've read all the guides and how to articles, now I just need to do it.

We're starting the game in the normal D&D world at a grand Masquerade ball for their equivalent of Halloween. It seemed appropriate. Plus, then I get to have the contrast of the very lavish and cheerful ball to the very dark and gloomy nature of Barovia. The Mists of Barovia reach out to other lands and pull in unwary adventurers. There's going to be one more little interlude before that happens, meeting with the Vistani, who are a thinly veiled representation of the Romani, and were one of my bigger stumbling blocks in the module. As written, they were offensive stereotypes. So, I did some research and rewrote them as a few actual Romani recommended. They're still there, but now they're no longer all alcoholic and evil. (Yes, seriously.) Instead, they're people, some evil, some good, some neutral. They're a unique culture, and one that I'm trying to celebrate rather than vilify. We'll see how successful I am.

Okay, time to go forth and get dressed, maybe re-read the parts of the module I think we'll get to. Everyone have a wonderful Tuesday!
