Oh thank goodness it's Friday. I got to sleep in, and the only thing I have to do is take Yoda for his grooming. Tomorrow is wide open, so that'll be nice. We'll probably end up doing something, but not sure what.
The meeting at work was kind of a joke. I got taken early, as my manager was trying to get them knocked out so she could leave early, so she was speeding through. It ended up being a bit of a nothing burger. They had a form letter, that they slapped everyone's name on. I guess when you're changing everyone to the same job title, it makes life easy. Same pay rate, which is what I was worried about. But aside from the job title, and pay, there really wasn't any further information. Will we still be doing the same thing? Will we be on the phones? No fucking clue. The new title doesn't even start until July 31st. Again, this was so poorly done, I cannot even.
Then, they had the unmitigated balls to send me a survey about how they're doing during the transformation. They use an outside company to make sure it's anonymous, so I completely unloaded. I didn't say anything that I wouldn't say to the head of the company, but I went into detail as to why this has been utter bullshit.
The once nice thing about yesterday is that the company is having a week-long Midsommar celebration, so we got some nice treats. I plan to have some of the raspberry jam cookies with my second cup of coffee this morning.
My application for Team Lead was denied. They didn't even go as far as asking my manager for a recommendation, just denied it out of hand. Getting that first thing in the morning did not help my overall grumpiness at being in the office. I assume that they already had who they wanted to hire, and putting the job up was a formality. Oh well, at least I got an interview for the Knowledge Specialist. It seems like half the team is putting in for it, so I don't know that I'll get it, but I can only try.
I have a training on the reorganization on Monday, so we'll see how that goes. If the current performance is an indication, I'll just come out more pissed off.
Next week is the Pride Jamboree on Tuesday, so I'll be going into the office then as well as my regular Thursday. As a member of the Diversity forum, it was kind of expected that I'd be there. Plus, I want to acknowledge that the company is trying on their equality forums.
That's the thing with IKEA. Reorganziation aside, they're a good company to work for. They've got progressive policies, stellar benefits, and a shitton of vacation time. (Seriously, I get over 5 weeks of vacation a year-yay Sweden.) Also, if the company performs well, we get hella bonuses. Plus, the ability to move within the company, which is a big bonus. So, I will stick with them unless something goes horribly bad. As it stands, I have 75 hours of PTO and 24 hours of Holiday Pay (which is just PTO that can only be used in 8 hour increments.) I'm hoping to get up to close to 100, so when I can put in my time for the Disney trip, I still have 40 hours left.
Okay, I have whined enough. Time to consider more coffee and maybe something to eat. The cookies are calling to me. Everyone have a great Friday!
