Ah Sunday, my old nemesis. The cat was being very cute this morning, and really didn't want me to get up. It was a struggle to drag my butt out of bed with her being all sweet and lovey. Eventually, I managed, because coffee was definitely needed.

We had the second half of my birthday with cupcakes and singing, and a lovely Amazon gift card from the family. I will use it well. Now here I am, 49 years old. One year to the big 50. I'm going to try to start saving for a special vacation when I'm 50--somewhere fun I've never been before. It's hard, because I don't want to be that far away in case there's something with Dad, but I think we're due--even if it's just for a long weekend. Maybe Thursday-Monday. It's something to think on-and plan obsessively, of course. It's hard in the era of Covid to figure out what we'd be comfortable doing, so we'll probably wait a while to start planning.

This year, we're most likely going to do Busch Gardens again in the late spring, during their Food and Wine Festival. That seems like a good, relatively safe thing to do, since it's all outdoors, and I would be happy for another chance to ride Apollo's Chariot, as for me that's the platonic ideal of a roller coaster. Might see if Shelly can get off work for three days, so we can go to the park Thurs-Sun, and come home Monday. That way we get two quiet days in the park on the weekdays, and two days of the Food and Wine festival, which is only on Saturday and Sunday.

I was looking at the movie releases for 2022, bemoaning the ones that I won't be able to see in the theater (thanks, Omicron). Still bent that I couldn't see Spider-man, which by all accounts was an awesome movie. It probably won't come to Disney+ until around July, which is just annoying. But it's better than getting Covid again.

Today, I have work, then D&D. Beyond the Witchlight--our third session! I'll put in dinner around 3:45-4, so it'll be done by five, then we'll eat, and the game starts at 5:30, so it'll be a busy day!

In TTRPG news, I had inspiration strike for a new superhero game, so I put feelers out, and now I have a fourth game I'm DMing. It'll probably be a one shot, with potential to be a series. I'm using the Masks game for it, which takes teehage-young adult's with super powers and follows them as they become heroes. I'm looking forward to it, even if scheduling will probably be a nightmare. It's a Powered by the Apocalypse game, same as Monster of the Week, which is a little looser than D&D. Also, it's going to be entirely homebrew. I'm betting on a somewhat bonkers game.

I've learned from MotW not to plan to heavily. I'm better off coming with a basic plot, and seeing what my players get up to and going from there. Even the times I've used modules, the players have gone in completely different directions than I expected, so they end up being half homebrew anyway.

On that note, it's time for me to get more coffee and get myself together for work. Everyone have a good Sunday!
