Some days, the subject lines for my post take a few minutes to decide on. Whose song? Which lyric? And other days, like today, I wake up and have goddamn Dead Man's Party stuck in my brain. Which, hey, I love Oingo Boingo! I was very excited to see the footage from this weekend of Danny Elfman and Steve Bartek reuniting to play, even just one song. Still, I do not need to wake up singing it at 6am, with the promise that it's going to be reverberating through my skull all day. (Video of the show below for those who are interested. It was part of a Nightmare before Christmas show that a lot of the original cast members participated in. Most of it is up on youtube. Sound quality isn't great, I'll warn.)

My sister apparently spent a chunk of the overnight throwing up, so I woke up to a quiet, dark house, which was weird. She seems okay, but she's called out of work since no one else wants the crud. i think this is the first time one of us has been sick since Covid. I'm betting she got it at the Trunk or Treat she did on Saturday. Hopefully, no one else in the house gets it. Especially Dad, obviously.

I don't want her to be sick, but the quiet is kind of nice.

Yesterday all my markets came in early, so I was able to get them all done and sent back. IT was a nice switch from them coming in five minutes before I leave for the day. Downside, today is going to be dreadfully slow unless something interesting comes in.

Someone is outside scraping their windows. I did not realize it had gotten that cold out last nigh, but that's what it sounds like. It's certainly chilly in here. When Dad gets his social security, we really need to get the nice people in to do the consultation about the basement. Unfortunately, they do not do a free consult, and we're poor, as usual. We're not going to do another winter with space heaters, though. It's just not happening.

For those who are new to the saga of why we have no gas, we had a flood, and because we couldn't have our meter changed out because of it, they cut our gas off. Since then, we had the flood fixed to the tune of $9000 of plumbing work, but now the gas company won't come in to do the meter until we have the basement professionally cleaned-probably to the tune of another $5000. So, until we can get that done, we're absolutely stuck. We'd planned to have everything done by now, but the gas company dropped the stipulation as we were trying to schedule the service to get everything back online rather than telling us at some point during the whole process. (We also had entirely new gas lines put in, since ours wouldn't hold pressure.) It's been a long and drawn out nightmare, and it's still getting longer.

Okay, enough ranting for the day. Going to get some more coffee and start the day. Everyone have a lovely Wednesday!
