Night two of sister's vacation is down, aka "Adultyest Adulting." Hopefully, she's having fun despite the rain that hit us yesterday. Last text I got, she was in the lobby of the Marriott, having decided that she didn't need to walk through the rainstorm to see a band she was only slightly into at the price of being soaked for the rest of the day. BIL decided to go see them anyway, so she had a little break. I love my BIL, but he has this trip planned out to the minute of who they're going to see and what they're going to do. He's like me, turned to eleven. By the time they get home, I think my sister is going to be exhausted.
I'm not sure I'm being horribly successful at adulting. I forgot to give Dad lunch until after 3pm, and the only thing he ate for dinner was rice pudding (his choice, he didn't feel like eating anything else--we had pizza.) He was so bored that he decided to take a nap at 6pm, and only got up at 8pm long enough to eat said rice pudding and go to bed. Oh well, maybe there'll be something on TV that'll interest him tonight so he's not bored enough to go bap.
Yesterday involved a drive downtown to get our food from the Russian Festival. So tasty! I don't know what they marinate the pork in for the kebab, but it's so good. The blinchiki were a little soggy by the time I got them home, but they tasted awesome. The sweet cheese is better than any of the ones at IHOP by far. (Though I bet they'd be amazing with a strawberry topping.) Dad seemed to like his kolbasa, so all in all, it was a win.
Next week, they have beef stroganoff. Tempting. Though depending on how we feel, we were considering a jaunt up to do Halloween in Hersheypark. If not, we'll do Christmas in Hershey in a few weeks. I've been reminded how much I love roller coasters and I want more. Plus, I do love Hershey. It always smells so good up there.
After that, we watched FreeGuy, which was a nice fluffy little movie. Nothing amazing, but I enjoyed it. I'm always a fan of Taika Waititi chewing scenery, so that was fun. It was pretty brutal about the gaming community, though I feel like it could have pushed it a little farther to talk about sexism and homophobia/transphobia in gaming. There were a few little nods to it, but I would have liked more. Which is not going to happen in a Disney made movie. All the little cameos were a nice touch, though.
Now, it is Sunday, and back to work I go. I'm a little tired, but not as bad as I was afraid of. I should actually be able to focus today. I actually got some sleep last night, which was nice.
For now, more coffee. Everyone have a good Sunday!
