Date: 2006-09-09 09:09 pm (UTC)I've always been a little annoyed by the popular fanon belief that Dean was always getting into fights in school, failing his classes, etc. I can't imagine Dean drawing attention to himself in that way. John was gone a lot when they were growing up: the danger of attracting attention from Social Services was too great for Dean to have been acting out all the time. Plus, we know Dean's smart. And good, too.
My own personal theory is that Dean got straight A's in middle school, but by the time high school rolled around, his grades dropped just a bit due to frequent absences for hunting trips. I can easily see Dean with a solid B average. Remember: the shapeshifter said that Dean had dreams too. I can totally imagine him, not dreaming of Stanford or Harvard, but secretly--not that he'd ever admit to it--wishing sometimes that he could go off to the same state university as all his friends.
My favorite line:
Dean nodded. “Okay.” He glanced at the clock. “Shi-Crap. Is it really that late? What did Sam eat for dinner?”
Loved it.
