So you might give yourself away, yeah and pay full price for each mistake
Yesterday was such a dichotomy of a day. But first, let me rewind and do my full con review.
I was a little sad on the flight out, because most of my D&D server had to drop out for one reason or another. All completely valid reasons! I'm glad they took care of themselves! But I was sad. In past cons, I've kind of felt like an outsider, and didn't socialize much, mostly keeping to just talking to Jess and
poisontaster almost exclusively. I wonder in retrospect if I came across as standoffish.
So on my flight, I had the epiphany that this con was going to be what I made of it. I could do what I'd always done and had that vaguely dissatisfied feeling at the end, or I could do what I did for the first Wincon and put myself out there.
So armed with that, once I arrived, I posted in the Discord that I was going to go out and get food, was anyone interested. Which is how I ended up meeting Myth. We went for very good Italian food and had a really good time. I came out of it with leftovers and some adorable Halloween Macarons.
Pictures ahoy behind the cut.

Are they not the fucking cutest things?!!?
Wednesday night was busy getting shit together for the beginning of the con. I hung out with Myth and Countess Mary, and attended a swag bag stuffing party. Then, I fell into bed. I was reintroduced to the idea of physical/digital media that you have on a server or drive. It sounded interesting, so I went on door dash and got a 2 Terrabyte hard drive to start swapping shit.
As usual, I was up at ass-o-clock, made worse by the time difference. Still, there were fangirls at breakfast, and I pushed myself to be social.
Before I knew it, it was time for our Russian Tea Time/Gangnam Market outing!
Russian Tea Time was great. The waiter was helpful, though fairly inattentive. Very European style of waiting. You tell us when you need something, otherwise, we're leaving you the hell alone.
The food was AMAZING. The Medovik honey cake was a revelation. Also, whatever they put on the salmon made me not mind that it was fish.

Isn't that gorgeous?
Gangnam market was so much fun. When you walk in, there's a wall of gachapon machines. I stopped by the one that sold little lizards, and made said I was going to get a skink for Jess, since that's what their Frostmaiden character is named. Damned if I didn't get a little blue tongued skink.

He's so happy!!
I got so much snack food. Half of which is still in my bag to try at home. Especially excited about the Thai Tea candy.

After that, it was back to the hotel to prepare for Meet and greet. I talked to so many people. I was a fannish butterfly. Then it was off to see Venom 3, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Friday started con proper. Another fangirl breakfast and onto panels! I didn't go to a ton of panels, but the ones I did were unilaterally awesome. The vid show got me two new songs to go on my playlist, and then it was D&D time. The game went really well, and I had a lot of fun running it.
Saturday, I did some more hanging with fangirls, and got a few shows for my new hard drive. Then, it was off to lunch with a friend from another server, which was lovely. We went to a crepe place and I had a Reuben crepe! Then, it was back to the con and a few more panels before it was time to head out for dinner with one of my players. We went to a Serbian restaurant and it was SP good! There was this savory crepe with cheese, sour cream, ham. Just delicious. Back in time for the dance, whereupon I made the questionable choice of putting stick on gems on my face.

Sunday, Froggie and I did our panel on the craziest things we've done for fandom, which was a lot of fun. Then, I abruptly decided that I wanted to make a plushie, so I checked out of my hotel room and got to work on that while Izzy downloaded an old show called Misfits of Science onto my drive.
Meet plushie!John Winchester!

Then, it was off to closing ceremonies and commencing just hanging out and the Call of Cthulhu game.
Then, sadly, it was time to leave Chicago. But Chicago didn't want to let me go.
Okay, Chicagoans, real talk. O'Hare airport is the *worst*. I got there in plenty of time, got through security, and to my gate. No problem. I can handle lines. Then, they moved my gate from K4 to K5. Okay, no big deal. Then, they moved it to K16. Then too H11B. In a different terminal!!
Then, before I could go to the other terminal, they moved it again to K20. All in the span of like 70 minutes.
Finally, onboard, and only a few minutes late.
We taxied, and taxied and a call button was pushed. Then, we taxied back, because a passenger was ill and needed off the plane. So they pull up, and the emergency personnel were coming in, and this asshole behind me tells the flight attendant (who was 100% done with everything) that he wants a cocktail.
She told him to suck it up, and he proceeded to bitch for the next 20 minutes.
Seriously whiny man-baby bullshit. "They shouldn't call it first class, you don't get anything, it should be front class. I normally fly United, and American so bad, it's not American Airlines, it's American Can'tlines." He was very proud of that one. Repeated it a few times.
And then he kept playing snippets of noise on his phone. Video game noises, and then music.
At the end of the flight, I thanked him for making my journey measurably worse. By that point, it was 12:40am and I was done, and he tried to get past me to get out of the plane. Nevermind that I was in the aisle, just waiting for the door to open.
Finally at baggage claim, and they moved our baggage claim. He bitched more. I waited for my bag to come out and turned to him and thanked him for making this flight measurably more unpleasant. I thought I was getting punched, but no, he just sputtered and slinked away. A few other passengers applauded. It was surreal, and I'm not sure what took hold of my tongue.
The sedan was waiting and I was home before I knew it. (1:20am).
Today, we have to take Yoda to the vet to discuss doggie anti anxiety meds. For now, I'm going to grab breakfast and get my sleep deprived ass in gear. Everyone have an amazing Monday!
