(no subject)

Just realized that as of today, I've been at this job 9 years. I walked in here at age 21 back in 1994 on this very day. Yikes.

Am currently trying to work up the nerve to ask my boss for a raise, since I have not had one in quite a while. The funny thing is, I'm not worried about him telling me no, I just hate to ask. I think I still have some issues about my worth. Intellectually, I know I run the office, and that he'd be screwed without me, but that doesn't have anything to do with it. I hate saying "Yes, I feel that the job I do is worth more than I am making."

Ah well. I'll ask him eventually. I just figured today would be a good day, with full moon and all. *shrug* I love my job, and my boss, it's not like I want to leave. Where else could I have the freedom I do here?

I mean, I spend the first hour I'm here answering phones and chatting with friends online! Oh, and writing porn. Can't forget that.

Granted, in return, I do the job of four people, work long hours, and bust my ass to make sure things are done right the first time.

Maybe I'll try that prosperity spell at full moon tonight.

Just ask. :) He loves you. You know that. You're underpaid. He'll recognize that.

*hug* You're a sweetie, darlin.

Hmmm, that makes you *old* doesn't it. :)

Of course I have been at Novatec for 12 years, two years laid off, and now back again ... so I guess that makes me really old. ;)

Never hurts to ask, regarding the raise. Just make sure you have a figure in mind - just in case he asks what you were thinking. You might want to check out the want ads on the net to see what someone with your experience is worth in the open market, if you are not sure. Never hurts to be prepared. :)

*grin* No comment on the age thing, darlin.

And I did ask, and we shall see what happens.

The problem is, my job doesn't really fit any one category. Most medical assistants don't get to do 1/3 of what I do, which makes it hard to pin down what my salary should be.

Whoo! Go for it!

And dude, did you hear the latest about Joanie and Sean?

[identity profile] beanside.livejournal.com 2003-08-14 09:49 am (UTC)(link)
*crosses fingers* Here's hoping!

I saw. *blink* After all the shit he's been through, this is when he has a breakdown? Someone needs his antidepressants upped....a lot.

I can't help thinking that it's some kind of publicity stunt...but I'm cynical like that.

I was kind of wondering that, too. *nod* It would be right up Joanie's alley.

Poor Sean, led astray.

Did you ask yet?

Try to find out what someone in your postition makes elsewhere :) Soemtimes it's hard putting down what you're worth, but when you look at someone else's job and say I can do *THAT* and realize they make more it feels a bit more fitting. hugs EK

*grin* Like I said to Den, the problem with that is that I'm kind of jack of all trades. I do the job of a medical assistant, plus a secretary, plus a the occasional handyman jobs. It's hard to say what it's all worth.

But, I gave it a shot, we'll see what comes of it.

I really hope you do ask for it, you deserve it!
