It's you and me and when we change the key, we'll give the world a show
I'm using a subject line from Love, Love, Peace, Peace, must be Eurovision time! My favorite song so far this year has been Finland, who definitely understood the brief:
Yesterday was busy. I was a little concerned, because Yoda's grooming was at 11am, and the bed and sit/stand assist were due between 9-11am. Fortunately, the durable medical company, Freedom Mobility Solutions, called around 8:45 to say they'd be here in 30-40 min. I went and got some cash to tip him, and for the dog's groomer.
Thus began my anxiety that the bed or the sit/stand wouldn't fit. He showed up, we put Yoda in the office, and thus began our day. The deliveryman was so nice. The bed turned out to be in pieces, so it fit easily. And the sit/stand fit nicely. Then, I guess because we looked pathetic or something, he assembled the bed for us! I cannot even begin to explain how much I appreciated that. That would definitely have taken us all afternoon, and I'd probably have hurt my back even more. He got a good tip, needless to say. The sit/stand is awesome, and fits perfectly over his lift chair.
Once that was done, it was off to the groomer's for Yoda. Apparently he was pretty good, since it only cost us $85, which seems to be his groomer, Paulette's standard price. Even better, our reactive shit of a dog actually touched noses with another dog in the waiting room without losing his mind. It was very nice.
By two pm, with the dog still being beautified, I was just exhausted. I wanted to lay down, but I knew they'd be calling to pick up Yoda, so I didn't take a nap. Finally, we picked him up, and I went to go see dad.
He was dozing when I went in, and it took a few minutes for him to really wake up, but once he did, he was in a reasonably good mood. I showed him pictures of his bed and of the newly shorn Yoda, and that seemed to make him happy. I know being in the rehab has sucked for him, and I'm glad he's excited about getting out. I'm nervous about him getting out, but we'll see how it goes. Hopefully, we'll be good.
During the business of the day, we also had like five deliveries, including a fuckton of food, and cookies. Despite that, I still had to put in another order because I forgot hot dog and hamburger rolls. Dad has requested that for his homecoming meal, and I got the meat, but totally forgot that buns are a thing.
After all that, it was time for our Frostmaiden game. I cranked some backstory trauma up and sent in the troops, for a knock down drag out fight that lasted the whole session. Then we battled the scheduling monster and came out triumphant. We won't be able to play again for 5-7 weeks, but it's better than we'd feared. And while we were doing the scheduling, people were talking about how the scheduling worries us, because they've had other campaigns just stop because of it, and that led to talking about how dedicated and invested they are in this campaign, and it made me feel good.
There's a community on Reddit where DMs go to bitch, and whenever I stumble on it, I'm so grateful for my group. No mater what game we're playing, they show up ready to have fun and tell the story. I can drop a note in the discord at 10am and by 4pm, I have seven players. You can't buy that.
Okay, time for me to go forth and maybe put pants on. Maybe. Though i was considering running over and getting another raspberry butter cookie from crumbl. We'll see. Everyone have a super Saturday!
