I gotta turn this car around
I had a little trouble getting to sleep last night, so I'm a little tired this morning. For some reason, I just couldn't quite settle down. Today, I'm tired and a little achy. I took my Rybelsus late, so I have to wait a few more minutes before I can start imbibing coffee. And I definitely need some.
Yesterday, despite having all my markets, plus the delivery updates, I was still bored out of my skull most of the day. The updates were very light, so I didn't actually have to do any of them, just pull them and sort them. I spent a lot of time on TikTok and Twitter, just aimlessly scrolling. Today is likely to be more of the same, barring surprises. Instead, I shall shake the discord, hoping that content will fall out to entertain me.
I've agreed to run a game for a couple of Jess' friends from the Undertale fandom. It'll be a small game, but it should be a lot of fun! It'll just be a one shot, and I've got a couple of options for the modules to run. Their friends are from all over the world, so finding a time to play could be a challenge. We might have to play a game earlier in the day. I'm looking forward to meeting Jess' friends, but very nervous about DMing for new people. They seem very nice, so hopefully, it'll go well.
I'm creeping ever closer to this weekend of D&D, when we shall have games Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Friday's is Frostmaiden, Saturday's is the conclusion of the game we started the day Roe v. Wade was overturned to keep from doom scrolling, and Sunday's is Witchlight. I need to do a few minutes of prep for Frostmaiden, and Witchlight, but Saturday's game needs no prep, thankfully.
I'm mostly looking at Strahd right now. I've got 9 days before it starts, but it has a lot more moving pieces that I need to worry about. I'm trying to figure out what to do with the players. If I don't want a total party kill, I'm going to need to get them leveled up quickly. There's an optional section that I'd like to play, but it would be a little much for level one characters. Judging by the discord, people are making the most drama llama characters, and I love it. Angsty backstory, awesome. Dark past, yes, gimmie. I don't know how much backstory I'm going to be in, since the story takes place in a pocket dimension, but illusions are a thing, so I'm going to try to drag in as much as I can.
After Strahd, we'll have MotW, which I'm actually not preparing much. The hunters are going after the Varangian Guard, so I'm going to jot a few notes and see how that's going to play out. It's funny, in the earlier games, the team was a little squeamish about having to kill a human, but I've broken them. Now, they're like "Evil organization bent on killing every supernatural or Fae creature? Gotta take them down. Torture one for information? Okay!"
It's a lot of TTRPG, and I love it. I just want to play already! Is it Friday yet? I want it to be Friday already.
Okay, I suppose it's time to get myself together for another fun-filled day at work. I've got an ED&I meeting, so that's something to break up the afternoon. Everyone have a lovely Wednesday!
