Keeping your faith when it's gone
Boo, back to work. Somehow 6am seems much earlier on Sunday. I guess because no one is awake, so it's quiet, normally. Today, my sister is helping a friend's family move shit out of their former house. This could go easy, or be a shitshow, thanks to the volatile ex. I'm hoping it'll be chill. As a result she was up by 6:15, so my quiet morning has kind of evaporated.
We did all our errands yesterday, and had lunch sitting outside at a local Irish pub. It was okay, but nothing to write home about. It was just nice to sit in the warm sun and relax away from people, though. We got Jess' cannabis gummies for bedtime, so that's good.
We tried the Good Chop ribeyes and scallops last night, and they were really good. The scallops especially hit the spot. Only downside, because they were pretty good size, the 10 ounces amounted to 11 scallops. They were fucking amazing with a little salt and pepper and given a good sear. I was really pleased with them, since I hardly ever get scallops. Next time, I'll be making some garlic butter to go with it. The ribeyes were good quality, marbled nicely and tender. I just salted them good and threw them in the skillet, and they turned out lovely. I think I'm getting spoiled by Good Chop's meats. I really noticed when I used the Walmart meat to fill in the gaps.
Another day, another youtube spiral. This time I'm looking at the Disney dining plan. It's not currently being offered, but it may come back by the time we go. I actually called and priced out the hotel we're thinking about. It's not cheap, y'all. It's at minimum over $3k right now. Hopefully, there'll be a package that makes it cheaper/gives us some perks between now and then, but we shall see.
I've also started looking at restaurants. Right now the question is: how many times do we want to eat steak in one week? I definitely want to do Steakhouse 71 in our hotel, and Ohana in the Polynesian resort. Probably Ohana twice. Once for breakfast and once for dinner. I'm going to try to get the dinner for Wednesday early evening, since that seems to be when the park has extended hours, so we can go back to our hotel mid-day to relax when it's at it's busiest/longest wait times for rides, then come back, eat dinner and go back to the park for our extra hours.
This week, I shall start a new walking program. The things I've read says that the average day in Disney can be anywhere from 7-10 miles of walking, and I am in no way fit enough for that. I want to get up to walking at least 5-7 miles a day, maybe more, we shall see, because I do not want to be miserable hiking during this trip.
I know there will be a waning of enthusiasm soon as it sets in that this is all still 10 months away, but I'm going to try to carry it through to get a fitness plan in place. We did do Busch Gardens which was seven miles of walking, but we also pooped out by about 4:30/5pm. At least this time, I'm building some to relax into our plans. I don't know that it'll be warm enough to use the lovely pool, but maybe there'll be a heat wave that week.
Okay, about time to start thinking about pants/second cup of coffee. Have a wonderful Sunday!
