Today was not a good wakeup time. First the dog and cat got into a tiff, then water started dripping into our basement directly next to our room. Turned out my sister had left the water on, and the sink was overflowing. Awesome. Just how I want to wake up. The drip seems to be slowing now that I cleared out the drain, so hopefully that was the problem. We'll keep an eye on it. This was all before 6:00.
Then, I promptly choked on my morning pills and spent 20 minutes gagging and coughing. So how's your morning going? Yeesh. I'll take shit I don't need for $599, Alex. The day has to get better, right?
Of course, I do have two meetings on my schedule for this afternoon, so maybe not. The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion meeting should be fine, albeit tedious, but the team meeting is probably going to be a clusterfuck. The new manager has not learned how to put her foot down and shut up the team, so they tend to run away with the meeting. As i think I've said before, she comes across as wanting to be the "cool" manager, which I don't really need.
Aside from those two spots of annoyance, the day should otherwise be pretty quiet. All but one market came in early, so there probably won't be much to do this morning. I finished Crowbones, so nothing to do there.
Crowbones was pretty entertaining, but as I said to a friend yesterday, I can't just recommend Anne Bishop books without some pretty hefty caveats. They scratch an itch for me, but they have some reoccurring themes that are pretty fucked up. Gender essentialism, sexual assault out the wazoo, violence and self harm. Also in the Others books, a distinct lack of gay rep. (The Daughter of the Blood books had a few, at least.)
So, in the meantime, it's back to the Kindle Unlimited to find other things to read.
Okay, time for me to go forth and have some more coffee and get myself ready for what has already been a fun day. Have a good Wednesday everyone!

I have a one on one on Thursday, so we'll see how that goes with the new manager!
I think my next book is going to be a kid's book called Amari and the Night Brothers. It was on Smart Bitches Trashy Books, and sounded interesting. They compared it to Percy Jackson and Artemis Fowl, bot of which I enjoyed a lot.
