Oh, god why is it Monday again?
Watched "Inception" last night. I know a lot of people who I love and respect think it's the best, most awesome movie in history.
With all due respect to your opinions...
OH MY GOD, THAT IS TWO HOURS I WILL NEVER GET BACK. Seriously. There were good ideas in it. However, they were hampered by the clunky writing, wooden acting, and the presentation that having mind raped his wife made him a tragic hero.
I will concede that Tom Hardy is adorable and snarky. I will concede that he and JGL would be a lovely couple. I will concede that Cillian Murphy is wonderful.
When the movie ended, I disliked it. Now, I LOATHE it.
Christopher Nolan is a very good visual director. Now, if he could get the gist of the actors, he might make a good movie. Batman was good because of visuals and Gary Oldman/Cillian Murphy/Lian Neeson. They're all good enough that they don't need direction. Christian Bale was so busy chewing gravel he was a non-entity, and Katie Homles was annoying. Second one was all Heath Ledger and Tiny Lister. The rest was boring and stilted.
I really hoped that he'd figured his shit out. But no.
Will I watch the next Batman, aka the White Washing of Bane? I don't know. I really don't.

I especially resent how the movies spill over into the written fandom, as people take their characterizations from them, instead of the original source.
I am very cautiously optimistic about the Captain America movie, as the shots I've seen posted look interesting. But I'll let my diehard fanfriends see it first when it's out, and report on it before I go.

That was my exact same reaction to watching the film, though I did almost throw a shoe at my brand new tv when the ending rolled around before I relaized what I was doing. That was 2 hours and 20 minutes I wanted back.
The special effects were good. The actors were pretty. The storyline sucked. And the ending can go screw itself. I think I yelled something like 'The Sopranos did that better'. *snort*
I know there are tons of people over the moon about this film, but I am not one of them.

I do like the most recent Batman movies, even though I didn't like the acting by either Katie Holmes or Maggie Gyllenhaal, they seemed stiff. However, I think a lot of it is just that I'm so happy to see something other than Batman Forever and Batman and Robin. I am a little concerned about the casting for the next Batman movie, but I've been proven wrong before, so I'll give it a chance regardless.

And then... well, see, I was bitching about it with a friend of mine who also happened to hate it and we came up with this idea that wouldn't go away, and now when I watch the movie that's all I see.
What if Maul was the one who got out, and she spent the movie trying to get her husband out of his own head?
Seriously, we had to go see it again just to see if this was possible, and it totally is. That makes it a slightly better movie. Slightly.
