Had a not bad weekend, despite the neck pain. Saturday, we didn't do much really. I was hurting and not really up to running around.
Sunday, we went to see the Half Blood Prince. It felt a little too...disjointed to me. There were awesome parts, but they didn't add up somehow. Unlike a movie like Star Trek that was greater than the sum of it's parts, this was less. For every awesome scene there was another that kinda just was flat, and it jumped around so much that it felt like a shorthand version of the story. The end bits with Dumbledore and Harry were awesome, though when Dumbledore fell, and Harry was kneeling over him, it hit a little harder than I expected.
I kinda kicked myself for being silly about that, but then when I thought about it, I realized that it's only been 4 months, since I brushed grandmom's hair back and kissed her cold temple before the funeral home came for her body.
After a quick lunch at Red Lobster, we came home, and settled in to watch a few Jack-centric Dr. Who eps. Two of my favorites were in there, "The Doctor Dances" and "The Sound of Drums." I was so wiped out at that point that I was shaking, and my neck was tightening down like a bitch, so it was good to just lay there and smile at "Everybody lives, Rose. Just this once, everybody lives!"
Then, we watched Underworld, Rise of the Lycans, and mocked it roundly. As Jess said, it achieved the rather impossible, in that it made us both want to watch the first two Underworlds again. Still, Roma Mitra is hot, and Bill Nighy was all "oh, scenery, nomnom." So, y'know, it was fun, albeit sucky, and with some just brutal effects shots.
Then, we caught the tail end of "Drop Dead Diva," second ep. If you get Lifetime, and are at all interested in fat acceptance, or even just want a sweet show to watch on a Sunday, this is it. Awesome show. Fun, fluffy, and surprisingly savy about the real world.
Today, I have big plans to wait for my drugs to kick in, and then to go back to bed for an hour or two. After that...maybe laundry. That's...about my limit. Whoo, I'm a wildwoman.
