Yes, Samhain... not Sam Hane like I heard. That's the danger in reading words and not ever saying them outloud. When you hear them outloud, suddenly your brain interprets it as a bizarrely boring first and last name instead of an awesome Celtic word.
"Sow-in"? Well no WONDER I heard Sam Hane then. I felt like such an idiot when I saw it written down in people's commentary and I recognized the word for the first time that evening. I'm also pretty sure that Samhain isn't an actual person... but hey, it's Supernatural. I watch for the relationships, not the plot. *g*

Samhain translates to Death God. But that's actually Death as a verb.
It's the festival when the Lord of Summer dies and goes into the underworld to reign as Lord of Winter, Lord of the Dead.
I was kind of glad they did do it the way they did. Prevents a bit of wank.
