So, if you've been following Jess's journal, you know it was a rough week for us. For a couple days there, we were pretty sure that we were going to have to have one of our kitties put to sleep. She's lost weight, and is not eating much. We feared kidney disease. But thankfully, she has a benign thyroid tumor, that's causing it to go insane. Twice a day meds should take care of it. And hopefully, she'll go for another 15 years. Thank you all for your good thoughts!

Aside from that, things have been pretty quiet. We've been trying to take it easy in prep for Wincon. We both are really looking forward to seeing everyone. I'm kind of glad (though I know it was hard for our Con Crew) that it's a small con this year. It means that we'll probably be able to spend some time with the people we want to.

I still have a bunch of stuff to get done for the con, personally. My big thing this weekend is that I want to get down to the visitor center and get some brochures for things that I think people would enjoy.

I'm so glad to hear your kitty is okay. I've got a 15 yr old cat, too, who has a number of chronic illnesses. Most notable are asthma (for which he has a little kitty inhaler. He hates it, my precious...) and diabetes (for which he receives insulin injections twice daily). He's been doing just fine for 8 years post-diagnosis. Chronic kitty illnesses are totally manageable! \0/

Yup! We were terrified that it was kidney failure.

I wish wish wish I could make it to the con to see you guys. Have a WONDERFUL TIME! Post lots and tell us poor souls that can't come all about it! And I'm so glad to hear the kitty is doing better. What a relief. *HUGS*

My 17+ year old cat is doing fine on her 3 times a day hypothyroid meds- turns out the mysterious heart murmer she's always had is due probably to her condition.
Also, she sheds and grows claws faster than the average kitty. I hear there are dryer sheets made especially to help get cat hair off of clothes and sheets and stuff! Want!

*laugh* Awww. She's such a sweetie. Millie has hyperthyroid, and thankfully only has meds twice a day.

Just checked my flist-I missed the initial scare, but I'm happy to hear she's going to be all right. These furchildren of ours get such a hold on the heart, don't they?

You and Jess showed up at the same time on my flist. Glad to hear Millie is okay. I had an "event" with one of my kitties being completely unresponsive for about an hour Tuesday night. Scared the crap out of me. She is fine now, everything checks out, but *whew* I'm glad the scare is over. Now you can enjoy the con to the fullest without worries or sadness. YAY! Having lost two of my fur-babies this year, I understand what you both must have been going through.

I'm so happy to know that your kitten is fine and that you are feeling a little less stressed. Even if I rarely leave a message, I always check your journal because I find yours and jess's stories amazing. (both co-written and solos) :-)
