Another day, another fight scene. This one was on the Cylon vessel, as he and Xena went at it over her sudden allegiance shift to Baltar’s side. The woman knew how to fight, that much was obvious. He was suddenly glad that he’d had the couple weeks of fight training for Supernatural, because damn. It was his last scene of the day after a fifteen hour shoot that had dragged on into close to twenty. He’d managed to grab a few hours of sleep when the lighting rig had blown, but still. Chad was about ready for a shower, and the coming long weekend. It had been a week of long days since he'd kissed Jeff good-bye in LA, and he was ready for a break.
The fight ended with him bloodied, standing over the damaged body of the Three model, telling her that the other Threes were getting worried. Questioning her commitment to finding Earth. The Sixes were whispering about boxing her.
She knelt before him, promising to do better, to trust in God’s plan. “Good,” Chad purred, bending to kiss her lips lightly. “Because we won’t have this…discussion again.” The threat was obvious in his voice. They’d box her if she stepped out of line again.
“And cut!” The director watched the playback and nodded. “Great job, people.”
Chad offered Lucy a hand up, grinning. “You okay?”
“Yeah.” She flashed a smile. “So, I hear you’ve got an interview with People tomorrow.”
Chad ducked his head, shifting his weight. “Yeah. Something about stars reinventing themselves,” he muttered. “I would rather have told them to take a fucking leap, but y’know, publicity is publicity.”
Lucy nodded. “Yeah. And Ron has a way of making you want to drink the kool aid,” she said.
“Exactly.” Chad smiled as one of the PA’s hurried up to him. “Hey, Sondra, what’s up?”
“Not much. We’re calling it for tonight—Jamie tripped during his last scene, and gave his ankle a good wrench. He’s game to go, but they’ve decided to tack it onto Friday’s schedule,” she said, consulting her clipboard. “Oh, and you have a message to call Jensen ASAP.”
The pit of Chad’s stomach dropped. “Jensen? Not Jared?”
“Nope. Jensen Ackles. Says so right here. Why? Is everything okay?”
Chad scooped up his cellphone, already dialing. “I hope so.”
“Chad?”
The moment Jensen’s voice came over the speaker, he knew there was something wrong. It was too high, too tight. “Yeah. What’s wrong, Jen?”
“It’s Jared. He had a stomach ache last night, but we’ve had the stomach flu going around, so he ignored it, and then we were filming and he just went down. The medics think it’s appendicitis, and I’m on my way to Vancouver General.”
“I’ll be there as soon as I drop Joe off at home.” Chad sprinted to his trailer, stomach churning, and collected his keys and his dog. “Hey handsome. I’ve gotta go out so I’m going to drop you at home, okay?”
He called the dogsitter and asked if she could swing by, let all his babies out, citing a family emergency. He was on his way to the hospital when it occurred to him that he should call Jeff. Just in case he tried to call tonight. He was probably working, but he’d call anyway, leave a message.
Sure enough, Jeff’s voice mail picked up. “Hey, this is Jeffrey, leave a message and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.”
“Hey, babe. It’s Chad. Jen just called me, they’ve rushed Jared to the hospital with what they think is appendicitis. They’re not sure if it’s burst yet or not. So, I’m going to go sit with Jen, he’s kinda freaked out. I’ll call you later, when we know something, okay? I miss you,” he added quickly, hanging up before any more traitorous words could slip out.
The hospital was like any other, sterile, with that smell that Chad could feel seeping into his skin. God, he hated hospitals.
Nothing like being stuck in one for over a month to reinforce that feeling.
He found Jensen in the waiting area, pacing. He looked up as Chad hurried in. “Any word?”
To his shock, Chad found himself wrapped in a tight hug. “Hey. Thank you for coming. They don’t think it’s blown yet, so he’ll probably just get the little laparoscopic thing. Barely will have to take a week off work,” Jensen said, forcing a little smile.
“Sounds good. Have you called his momma yet?”
“Oh, fuck. No, I should. Jesus, I suck-“
“I’ve got it, Jen. She doesn’t like me anyway, she’ll love getting bad news from me.”
He’d just managed to get off the phone after assuring Jared’s mother that he’d call the moment they knew anything when the nurse called Jensen back.
Chad was startled when Jensen grabbed his arm, dragging him to the cubby where Jared was waiting for surgery.
He flashed a dopey smile. “Hey, Chad! When’d you get here?”
“Jensen called me. Nice job, JT. You know better than to ignore this kind of shit. You scared the fuck out of your boy here,” he grinned at Jensen’s indignant noise.
“Mmm. Sorry Jen,” Jared said, giving him a wide smile. “Would you suck my cock?”
Jensen choked a little. “Not right now. Maybe later.”
“Okay,” Jared agreed cheerfully.
“How much morphine did they give you?” Chad asked, grinning.
“Oh, a lot,” Jared said happily. “S’nice. All fuzzy and shit.”
Chad slid back, let Jensen have a little privacy until the doctor came back in. “Okay, gentlemen. It’s time for Mr. Padalecki to go into surgery now.”
Jensen nodded tightly. “Okay. I’ll see you soon, Jare. Behave for the doctors.”
“I will. Love you, Jensen.”
Jensen favored Jared with a smile, and Chad felt his throat tighten. “I love you, too, sweetheart,” Jensen whispered.
Then, they were back in the waiting area, watching the time tick by. Chad finally dragged Jensen down to the cafeteria. Jensen wouldn’t really eat much, but he at least finished off a piece of pie.
At least the cafeteria was nice. Reminded him of the set on One Tree Hill. Chad found himself a little sorry when they had to go back to the waiting area. The smell, the sounds were all starting to wear on him a little. He felt antsy, like he was going to crawl out of his skin.
About an hour and a half after they’d taken Jared back, the doctor was back out. “He did beautifully,” he told Jensen with a smile. “He’s going to be in room 324, if you’d like to wait for him. They’ll be bringing him from recovery in a few minutes.”
Jensen nodded, letting out a sigh of relief, and glanced back at Chad. “Go ahead. I’ll give Jared’s mom a call, and then I’ll be up.”
“Oh! Yeah. Thank you,” Jensen thumped him on the back, and Chad nodded.
The moment Jensen was out of sight, he let his head fall forward into his hands. God, this sucked. Only for you, JT, he thought.
He pushed himself up and headed into the courtyard for a smoke break and to call Jared’s mother.
The air outside was brisk, spring held at bay by one last cold snap. Chad leaned against the wall, head falling backwards, staring at the leaden sky. The wind nearly wiped out the smell of antiseptic from his nose.
He was lighting the cigarette when he realized his hands were shaking.
“Need a hand?” a soft voice asked, holding out a steady lighter.
A jolt slid down his spine at that voice, pure electricity. “Jeff? What—when—“
Jeff pulled him into a hug. “Got your message. How’s Jared?”
“He’s fine. Didn’t burst, they did the little laparoscope, he’ll be back to work in a week,” Chad murmured, wrapping his arms around Jeff. “God, I missed you.” Jeff pulled back a little, and Chad mentally winced at how needy he sounded. “Sorry,” he muttered. “I fucking hate hospitals.”
Jeff was smiling. “I missed you too, sweetheart.”
Chad found himself smiling back. “Yeah?” he said.
“Yeah.”
“Okay, then. You wanna go see if JT’s back in his room?”
“We can do that.” Jeff walked beside him, shoulders bumping.
“How long can you stay?”
“I don’t have anything lined up for a couple weeks. Figured I’d let Kim know that if he wants to use me for anything, I’ll be around. There was discussion of some voiceovers at one point.”
Chad felt his eyes go wide. “Weeks?” he asked. “Seriously?”
“Yeah. If that’s okay,” Jeff added hastily.
“That’s great. Awesome,” Chad murmured. “I—yeah.”
They visited with Jared and Jensen for a little while before sliding out, extracting a promise from Jensen to come over for dinner when visiting hours were over. Then, Jeff was climbing into Chad’s truck, giving him a sweet, nervous smile. “I haven’t set up a hotel reservation yet,” he said softly. “There was barely time to throw clothes in a suitcase-“
“You don’t have to stay at a hotel. I’ve got plenty of room—unless you’d rather not stay with me,” Chad added hastily.
“No,” Jeff blurted. “I just. I didn’t want to be presumptuous.”
“I want you to.”
Jeff smiled again, wider this time, the dimples in his cheeks showing. “Okay.”
“You know, I’ve been thinking,” Chad mumbled. “Um. If you wanted to, I think I’d like to try…y’know. The sex thing.” He kept his eyes determinedly on the road, hands clenched on the wheel.
“Mmm. What time do visiting hours end at the hospital?” Jeff asked, voice deceptively soft.
“Eight-thirty,” Chad said. “Why?”
“No reason. I’ve just missed you.”
Chad narrowed his eyes. “Fine. Whatever. First, I need a shower, though. I smell like hospital.”
Jeff nodded, resting his hand on Chad’s thigh. “Sure thing, sweetheart. I can take the dogs out while you shower.”
“What are you plotting?”
“Nothing,” Jeff grinned, fingers drifting a little higher. “Just that four hours is a long time, and we can order carryout when Jensen gets here.”
“Oh. Oh,” Chad blinked. “Okay.”
By the time they arrived at the house he was renting, Chad was in full-panic mode. What did one have to do to get ready for buttsex, really? I mean should he have stopped and gotten products to clean with? Enemas? Or was just washing externally an acceptable prep? This was going to be a disaster. He just had no clue.
But he would do it. For Jeff. This was for Jeff, he reminded himself. As long as Jeff went slow and gave him a reach around, he would probably be fine. After all, he was an actor. He could fake it.

Um.... I'm better now. =) Can I live in your brain?
*cough*....didn't you say there would be a threeway coming?*cough*
*bounces* best part of my day, dude.

This was my response, *tremulous voice* "Whaa-at?"
Ryn replies, "It's okay, she fixed him."
Me, "Whaa-at?" And then I ran for my computer. *g*
I have loved this series from the beginning. I'm always looking for JDM/JA so when Ryn pointed me in this direction I was like, "I hate CMM, why would I read that?" But I read it, and I love it - it's my crack. I adore Jeff and Chad together with those tantalizing hints of Jared and Jensen. And I believe there was a mention of a three-way somewhere - *cough*yestherewas*cough*, so I'm still looking forward to that.
I don't feel the need to stalk you, 'cause Ryn's already doing that, but I'll be around. *g*

Thank you for the kind words! Hopefully you'll continue to enjoy it!

Oh, Chad. Honey. Never chance, alright. *laughs*

Also, I now own OTH DVDs. My shame is complete.

You're killing me here. In the best way ever. Jared with appendicitis and morphine, Jensen all worried and hugging Chad - and Jeff coming to Chad's rescue. Need more now. Not soon, now!
Sorry for sounding like a petulant brat. Perhaps you could send Jeff around to spank me? *perks up hopefully*

Honestly,
threeone mega-story at once is enough! And at already 50+ pages, the Bastard Saints sequel is shaping up to be a bugger.no subject

As long as Jeff went slow and gave him a reach around, he would probably be fine.
just did me in. I think it's the mention of the reach around.
Oh dear. Chad's first time could go in two directions. 1) He's in for a pleasant (mind-blowing) surprise and it's hot and schmoopy. 2) Given Chad's propensity to screw things up, this could be really bad and angsty. I honestly don't know which I would prefer, but I'm totally looking forward to the next bit.

“Need a hand?” a soft voice asked, holding out a steady lighter.
A jolt slid down his spine at that voice, pure electricity.
That's my favorite moment, right there. *happy sigh* It sounds like Chad's setting himself up for disaster in the sex department, but I'm hoping that Jeff will turn that around.

Thank you!

Jensen favored Jared with a smile, and Chad felt his throat tighten. “I love you, too, sweetheart,” Jensen whispered.
Oh man. Make me *melt*, why don't you? I've read my share of J2 fics (some of them even had plots!) but this is the first time I've ever read them saying *those words*. Oh my.
Also, Chad freaking out about the logistics of buttsex was fucking priceless!

Here's the thing, I mainlined this series a couple nights ago after it was recced to a friend of mine and I was too blown away to leave feedback.
So, I came back tonight fully intending to re-read and leave feedback as I went. *ahem* Not so much, I ended up mainlining it all over again and not a peep was heard, mainly because I am still making noises that only dogs can hear.
So yeah, love, love, love this verse. Your Jeff is teh sex and OMG! CHAD! I don't know if I want to snuggle him or wack him upside the head, or both. Probably both. He could use it.
And your J2 is AMAZING, I adore how you work them in and Jensen's sort of evolving rapport with Chad. You can almost feel him thawing out towards Chad as it goes along, even though they still toss insults back and forth it's becoming less prickly and more affectionate.
And the DOGS and Jeff's Mom and Kim and all the other side bits are just, perfect! So much detail and richness in the characterizations and okay, rambling now. But I love the way that there are other relationships and situations going on and seeing how they touch and mingle with Jeff and Chad's story, just like things do in real life.
Hopefully you don't mind adding another stalker to your list. ;-)

Thank you! Um. I'm glad you're enjoying it so much. I really wanted it to be a little more...realistic than some of the other stuff I've written. I mean, my wife and I spent over a year doing the long-distance relationship thing, so I wanted to bring that into it, because that's part of dating a fellow actor. You're going to spend a lot of time apart, and it's not going to be smooth sailing. And with two fairly private people, there's going to be landmines of personal shit that you don't know about, and you're going to stumble over them. And I love the puppies and from all accounts, Jeff's mom is made of awesome, and well, I would totally bear Kim's lovechild, cause he rules all. *grin*
And now that I've rambled, thank you! There's always room for another stalker!
