Wow.

I really haven't updated in a while. *shrug*

Ah well.

The short version is that we spent the week housitting for [livejournal.com profile] justsonya and [livejournal.com profile] tobiasnevermore, taking care of their lovely kitties.

Originally had planned to go to Rehoboth for a couple days, but we were so enjoying the peace and quiet that we skipped it, and did mini/day trips instead. It was highly relaxing, and very, very nice. Their kitties were utter dolls, and I enjoyed getting to cuddle them. Wednesday, we enjoyed quality time with [livejournal.com profile] alysonwonderlan and [livejournal.com profile] sleeping_dragon for full moon, which was lovely.

On Sunday night, I put a bid in on ebay, and lucked out, winning two tickets to see the sneak preview of Serenity in Philadelphia.

So, last night, after work, we did the trek up to the AMC at Neshaminy mall, which is a lovely theater, I might add.

We got in line about an hour before the show, and proceded to have fun.

If you ever get the chance to do that sort of preview/midnight showing, or special event for geek movies, I highly reccommend it. We chatted with the nice people in line, then were offered some tasty cake in honor of it being Joss Whedon's birthday. Then, they passed out lyric sheets with both the theme from Serenity, and "The Hero Of Canton" aka, Jane's song. Then, a birthday card circulated for Joss, and we signed. After a half hour wait, we were allowed into the theater, and given a pretty placard for the movie, and a keychain.

There were no previews, but we did get the great little clip from Joss at the beginning, which was both funny and moving. You can tell that he's put a lot on the line for this movie. And I really, really want it to do well.

Now, onto the movie.

Since I promised not to give spoilers, I'll simply say: Go. See it as soon as you can. It's a wonderful, funny, touching, sad, exhilarating ride. It's Joss at his best. The dialogue is sharp, the characters are fleshed out, and the story has some great twists and turns, and some genuinely heartbreaking and beautiful moments. Think the emotional impact of "Once More with Feeling," "The Body," and yet the laughs of "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered," and "Tabula Rasa."

I'm just hoping that they have other preivews so I can see it again.

Now, I sleepy. *snore*

I have only caught bits and pieces of Firefly, so I wasn't planning on seeing the movie until much, much later. Then I saw the trailer, and my mind went boom, and now I must find a way to catch up with the whole show before the movie comes out so that I can see it.

Joss' universes make me *wibble* with joy. Also, Adam Baldwin is sex.

Oh yes. Adam is teh hotness. Also, Gina Torres makes me drool.

The most telling thing I can say about the movie is this: We drove 2 hours each way. Jess got hit with a horriffic migrane on the ride home, and cried much of the last 30 minutes, and yet we both still thought it was an entirely worthwhile trip.

(and yes, the DVD's rock hard. Love the Firefly.)

*glee* Must watch! And yes, Gina Torres is beauty personified. She makes me all ajfldsldkdksl! with lust.

I nearly did a little dance this season of Alias when she did a guest star appearance. She's just amazingly lovely. And she totally makes me believe that she can kick anyone's ass.

DVD's are getting hard to come by. We had to buy it at Best Buy- our last resort.
I hope you have better luck- maybe amazon or bn.com?

Luckily, my brother-in-law's family has the DVDs, so I might be able to borrow it off of them before the movie comes out. *crosses fingers* Also, the Space Channel in Ontario carries the show, so I can watch it every night as long as I stay up late enough.

I will watch this show in its entirety before the movie comes out! One way or another.

Thanks for the lack of spoilers. You do know that it is a trilogy that they've planned, right? EEEEEEEE!

We went to see the first LotR for the special midnight showing openning "morning" at the Uptown. It was amazing. There were at least 5 Gandolf in attendance and 3 of them got up on the stage to lead in audience in singing "Happy Birthday" to one of the other audience members. (Actually, we went to see ALL of the LotR movies at the special midnight showings, but that was the only one where the fun stuff happened.)

*laugh* I'd be very happy for a trilogy. But they made sure that if the trilogy doesn't happen, they've set things in motion for resolutions for a lot of the characters. Of course, they've made problems for other characters that could carry the next movies.

Squee!

Note the squee, you will not often see that in my posts or comments. *points to subject header*
T and I have been watching the fandango site when the browncoats site mentions the tickets are on sale, but I guess ebay is the way to go. We've missed out twice since they started doing the previews. Did they jack up the price very much for the tickets?

I am going to see this movie- and probably a few times just because I want it to do well too.

Prices were going for anywhere from double the ticket price, up to $40+ on ebay from what I've seen. I'm hoping they'll do another preview, maybe in Baltimore. Not that it's not worth the drive, but daaamn. I'm wiped out today.

Just thought you might enjoy this...

Remember Willow? That itsy bitsty kitten you kindly let us adopt?

She's not so itsy any more. Actually, she's shaped like a bowling pin. A really big bowling pin.
