And when they come for me, when they call my name cast my shadow from a bellow's flame
And it's Monday again. Funny how that happens. I had a lovely weekend, so I'm not that upset about it. I am recharged and ready for work. It's going to probably be a busy week, as people are trying to get in before the end of the month. (Spoiler, most of them are not going to.)
Yesterday, we went out in the late morning to go grab some gummies for Jess for sleepytime. I look forward to hearing from them how they worked. The store didn't have their normal peppermints, so we had to go with blackberry gummies that apparently taste fairly awful. It was that, or we go with the pills, but Jess wanted to try something new.
After that, we went to grab Chinese food. There's a place we used to go all the time that closed called Szechuan House. After a few years, they reopened in a new location, and we've been saying that we should go for the last year and a half or more. Thanks to some holds on my card from sending out the laundry, we had $40 to eat, including tip. And I remembered that Szechuan House had a lunch menu. I called quickly to confirm that they'd brought that over from the prior location, and yes!
One thing I had completely forgotten was how much I loved their food. They do the whole thing for you. Wonton chips to start, with spicy mustard and duck sauce. Water and a pot of hot tea. Then your meal. I got the lunch sized Sesame Chicken, and should not have eaten the whole thing. Jess got the Chicken with Peanuts, and had about half left. It was so tasty. Then fortune cookies, of course. With everything we got, it seemed a steal at $17.96.
Then we went home and puttered around until it was time for game. Our original game got cancelled, since one of the players realized abruptly that she had tickets to a show (her calendar got borked). So
poisontaster kindly put together a one shot, which necessitated new characters, of course! The game is a sendup of Die Hard, set in a mine, and it's been delightful, so far.
As I was starting, I got a text from a friend. Apparently her son wants to learn how to play D&D, so she came to me as a resource. I gave her some suggestions and agreed to meet up tomorrow night and I'll show him some of the basics.
But for today, work.
I'm going to go get myself together. Everyone have an awesome Monday!
