A million miles away, your signal in the distance, to whom it may concern
It's Tuesday! We made it through the first day of the week! I was riding the struggle bus, though. Police protocol is hard, y'all. Medical made some sense to me, but police has WAY too many options. The test is gonna suck. I mean, I've got it enough that I'll pass, but it's not fun. Tomorrow starts fire, which I've been told is even harder. Oh joy.
CONfab was this weekend, and I'm feeling guilty about my performance as Social Media running up to the con. In a word, I sucked. I don't feel like I contributed at all. The virtual con comes up in April, and I'm definitely going to do my best to be more involved. I don't know how much I'll be able to attend, since I have no clue what shift I'll be on, but I should at least be in a schedule, so I'll be able to do other things. This class has just been like a wave unfurling and dragging me in it's wake. I haven't been able to do much of anything that isn't studying or working, and then when I'm home, I'm trying to take some of the burden off Jess with Dad. That probably isn't going to change, but the constant studying will ease off at least.
One way or another, I think I'll try to schedule my PTO for next October so we can go. Even if we have to come in on Thursday evening and leave Sunday morning, I'd like to be able to do it. If my sister can't handle dad, he can do a rehab for a week. We deserve a break. Plus, I get 20 days of PTO, so I might as well use it.
I got my schedule yesterday. They only gave me the first two weeks, so I'm waiting before I start scheduling games a bit. It looks like I should be working Thanksgiving. Which sounds lovely to me. Thanksgiving is one of our "super holidays" where we get triple time. I am all for working Christmas as well, but I won't find that out for a little while. We need to decide whether we're pushing Thanksgiving to Friday, when I should be off, or if people are going to cook while I'm at work. We'll probably be doing our normal Cracker Barrel dinner (either turkey or prime rib), so it's not all that much to do, just heating things. My supervision is definitely not required.
I was thinking we had time to decide that, but we really don't. November comes next week. My big test is one week from today. Eeep! Guess I better get back to studying. I want to do well on the two tests. One is our practical test on the CAD. I think I'll do okay with that. The other is the written test on everything. That's the one I want to ace.
I feel like I've gotten so boring over the last four weeks. The Academy has been so all-consuming that it seems like it's all I've got to talk about. Once in a while, Jess and I will go out, but that's rare. Maybe I'll get more interesting as I get into the job. Maybe not. Confidentiality and all that.
Okay, gonna get myself together for work now. Everyone. have an amazing Tuesday!
