A wild ride, over stony ground
Saturday and I slept in a bit! I mean, technically, I was awake at 6, but I refused to get out of bed and probably managed to doze some until 8:30, at which point I decided that I really needed coffee.
The doctor called yesterday to let us know that dad's blood culture grew out staph, so the antibiotics can be adjusted to target it better. On the other hand, all the tests they've done have been normal. They don't see bacteria on his heat, in his abdomen, or in his spinal fluid. So, they're going to keep trying to figure out where it's coming from, because the fear is that if they don't, the moment the antibiotics stop, he'll backslide right where he started, and then the bacteria may decide to mutate and become tougher to stop. So, more tests. He's still a little confused, but hopefully now that the antibiotic is targeted, that'll improve. They're also looking at his meds, to see if removing some could improve his function any. He's been on the same seizure medication for 38 years, and most of it is no longer really recommended. So they're going to try some with less side effects, and see if that helps anything. It would be nice if they could...condense some of his meds, so there's not quite so much to take everyday.
Yesterday was a busy day. Today will be too. I've gotta take my car over to the garage, go visit dad and then we have a game at 4. I'm not going to feel like doing any of that after game, so I'm going to need to get myself together in the near future. Hopefully, my car still starts and I won't have to call for a tow, but we shall see.
And of course, tomorrow, it's back to work. Thankfully, still at home.
Okay, time to finish my coffee and go put on pants and see if my car will still start. Everyone have a wonderful Saturday!
