City sidewalks, busy sidewalks, dressed in holiday style
Happy Christmas Eve! It's my normal day off, so no time and a half for me today, but I'll get New Year's Day, so that's something. I slept in today, til almost 8:45. Unfortunately, that means my sister was already awake, and any hopes of a touch of quiet time to start the morning evaporated.
It's currently 8 degrees (feels like -8) and I am so fucking grateful that we have heat again. This would have sucked horribly otherwise. All the space heaters wouldn't have covered something like this. Later, after I brave the cold to fetch our dinner, I may take a blisteringly hot shower, just because I can.
I had my doctor's appointment yesterday. It went very well. She was very sweet and very thorough. We talked about exercise, and how my knees are probably arthritic, but nary one word was said about losing weight, which I appreciated. So, i have a boatload of bloodwork, a mammogram and a pap smear to do. So, I'll try to get that done maybe next week, or even in January (well, the pap will probably wait til I'm home from Disney, since it's not that easy to get a GYN appointment.)
Beyond that, it was mostly a quiet day. My big accomplishment was booking a scooter to be delivered to our resort. It'll definitely make Jess' life easier, I think. My first choice of scooter companies was sold out, so I ended up going with Gold Mobility, which has decent reviews. All I'm asking is for a scooter that can get through most of a park day. If we have to charge it once a day, we'll deal. Since we're planning to go back to the hotel for two of the four parks, we should be okay, since we can charge it then. The real challenge is Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, which we're doing straight through. Granted, our version of straight through is about 7 hours worth, because I know us, and more than that and we will be toast.
Then, we convened for our Grinch-themed D&D game, which was hysterical. If there was a Christmas or Grinch pun, it covered it. The players all got to play level 20 characters, which is the highest level you can get to. They totally solved the puzzle, and avoided fighting the lich by growing his heart three sizes bigger. They did have to skirmish with Max, the Lich's red dragon pet, but a clutch polymorph spell that turned the dragon into a snail saved them from being exceedingly crispy. All in all, very nice break before the holiday stress.
Today, we shall fetch the food, and then possibly watch the new Knives Out movie, which I was reminded dropped on Netflix yesterday. Yay!
Okay, time to consider pants and a bra, since our pickup window starts in an hour. First though, more coffee. Everyone have a wonderful Saturday!
