It's gettin' hard, this holdin' back
OMG yall, I am so sore this morning, and I did not sleep for shit. The soreness isn't horribly unexpected, but apparently it overwhelmed my sleepytime meds to mess with me. As a result, here I am at 7:30, awake. On my one day to sleep in. My ass is going to bed early tonight, I gotta say.
Yesterday was a busy day, and very productive. Yoda had a groomer's appointment, and I was determined to build my new Arklestorp desk. It's very sleek and graceful, but is also made out of solid pine and is incredibly heavy. It's also a tad bit bigger than I thought it was, so putting it together was like fucking Jenga. It took me probably 7 hours with breaks, because my back just does not do that for any length of time. the bottom half went together pretty well, I did that portion solo, because there was absolutely no way Jess was fitting the room with the desk, the undercarriage and the desk top. Once I finished the bottom, they came in for the heavy lifting. There were about 20 long screws that the base needed to settle on, so they could be cam locked into place. That took a little while to get everything lined up. Then, finally, Jess came back in to flip it over and put it to rights. May I just say, Motherfucker. Did I pick the heaviest desk in the place? Fuck me, my back may never be the same.
Now that it's up, it looks gorgeous. I even got the drawers lined up correctly. It looks just like the showroom version. Now I just have to find the energy to move my monitors and docking station, which sounds unpleasant. I may stick with the old desk for work for a couple more days. We'll see. Right now, I kinda feel woofled, but that's probably the meds I took around 5, hoping for a few more hours.
Today is a busy day as well. We have to pick up food from the Russian Food Festival at 12:30. Then, it's home to hopefull consume some tasty treats before we have D&D at 2. With being obsessed with getting the desk done, I have done absolutely no prep for this game. Fortunately, It's the first game of a new module and we're adding a player, so some time will be taken up by that.
Okay, I'm going to take my little foggy brain and go look at the module. Everyone have a good Saturday!
