Baby, I can be the one you drown tonight

Todays subject line comes from a new song, courtesy of Jess and Youtube. I was scrolling through and it threw up this dude in a fancy gimp mask, and I was of course, like WTF, Youtube? Jess informed me that they had a few of his on their playlist, and I might like it. I didn't love most of the rest of his stuff, but this live track scratched an itch deep in my brain. So, I present it for your enjoyment.

Today is going to be a relatively busy day. We've got D&D with Jess' friends, we have to get to the dispensary and I have to cook dinner. Then, I have a powerpoint tutorial for my panel with a helpful fan. Which order we do that in is up to what time Jess gets up. We had a late session last night, so it might be awhile. Unfortunately, a combination of cat, and my own personal anxiety that Dad will need something and my sister won't hear him drove me up at 7:30, so I am not necessarily at my best this morning.

Yesterday was pretty much a wash up until D&D time. I did knock up a rudimentary power point for my confabulation panel, so I was productive if nothing else, but it was mostly spent fretting and debating on if I'd made the challenge too hard. (Spoiler, nearly.). I had a couple of grocery orders, and that was the extent of my day.

But finally, after a long day, it was D&D time!

It was definitely one of the more fun sessions as a DM, even though I was juggling a frankly insane number of character sheets.

The party arrived at their destination of Sunblight to pick up the newly restored weather control machine. They arrived, and were ushered in by a helpful duergar, who whispered "Help us." Then, a large group of lower level enemies attacked. As expected, the party mowed through them with nary a scratch. Then, they used their bugbear rogue's incorporeal status to peek through the floor and find the captive mistress of the house.

They found her surrounded by two people, a archdruid they've been waiting to meet, and Lucan, a necromancer they'd killed a few sessions ago. Unfortunately, high level druids and clerics have resurrection spells.

They bamfed in, and the warlock bamfed back out with the hostage, and the fight began. The fight was mostly just them dunking on Lucan as the cleric managed to banish the arch druid. They killed Lucan again and had a moment to catch their breath as the rest of the druid's merry band closed in.

There was a cleric and a palidin, with two more heading in. The battle went well at first, with our paladin squaring up with the cleric, who was closer, and the spellcasters concentrating fire. A few hard-hitting spells knocked the party down some hit points. Then, the other team's sorcerer arrived, and proceeded to wreck shit.

A particularly nasty spell left the two tanks and the high damage dealing sorcerer stunned and unable to do anything but move, and did some major damage. The party didn't seem to be able to counterspell shit. Our paladin was down to 27 hit points, when their paladin was doing an average of 30 damage per hit.

Then, our cleric came through with the ability to remove spell effects, and the paladin was back up and once again beating on their cleric. Another round and our cleric was able to remove spell effects on the figher. The battle was mostly mop up at that point, but the druid managed to slip out in the chaos, and live to fight another day...and resurrect all of these nasties.

Basically, I made a dark version of the party, and let them loose to some good effect. They did some serious damage, and made the party worry for a few minutes, and with a party that's level 13, that's hard to do.

I have no idea where they're going next, honestly. It should be an interesting game next time.

Okay, time to consider pants and maybe get myself together. Have a wonderful Saturday, everyone!
