Dig through the ditches and burn through the witches
I swear, I get most of my music from TikTok now. There's a weird mashup of Toxic, Love Shack and Dragula going around right now. It's oddly catchy and kind of ear-wormy, thus my subject for today.
It's Thursday, which means that I'm up early preparing to drag my ass into the office. Boo. I had put in to take today off, but apparently too many people had already requested, so I'm stuck going in. My primary partner in crime is off for the next 13 days, so it's going to be a long and boring day for me. I saved my reports from yesterday to do this morning, so at least I have a little something to do. Also it's my day in the working reports queue, so that'll keep me a little busy, event though I fucking hate that queue. Hopefully the AC at work can keep up with the heat today. It's usually okay, but it's going to be close to 100 degrees today. If I had a pair of nice capri pants, I'd be seriously considering them, but I don't so jeans it will be.
On the other hand, it's Thursday, so yay only one day left until D&D! Yesterday, I spent a little time looking at people's backstories and figuring out how they'd fit in the campaign. I have never seen so many tragic backstories in my life. People are really, really getting into the Gothic Horror aspect of the campaign. So far, I have a warlock with a bloodthirsty sword, a con artist medium who will find out that she's a real medium after all, a rogue who's entire family was murdered, a wizard who's brother was killed under mysterious circumstances and is a bit of a dilettante and a cleric who died under dark circumstances and was resurrected with traumatic amnesia. So far, the paladin and fighters seem to be remarkably free of guilt or angst, so obviously I'm going to have to fuck them up.
I think I've got everything prepped, so tomorrow I don't have a ton to do. I'll probably re-read the relevant parts of the module just to be sure, but I think I'll be prepping more of my Saturday Monster of the Week game. I don't have a ton to do, because I'm going to let them decide what they're going to do rather than dragging them into another side adventure. They've got to decide what to do about the Guard who are killing innocent monsters, but first they need to figure out where they're located. I'll be interested to see if they're going to go on a killing spree or if they're going to try to reason with the higher ups about the demon threat that's still to come.
I'm glad we have a couple games this weekend. It's looking like August is going to be a hard month to schedule, so we may have a D&D dry spell. I did agree to play in a D&D game on August 14th. It's a oneshot being run by someone I know from the Confabulation server, so that should be fun. It's a Spelljammer primer, which I eventually want to run, though it's a ways off, what with all the other stuff I've got going on. The current thought is to run a short campaign with new characters, and then possibly run a homebrew campaign with the Frostmaiden characters, as no one wants to stop playing them.
Okay, I suppose it's time to grab another cup of coffee and get myself together for work. On the plus side, I now have almost enough PTO to take my time off for Disney and still have close to 40 hours left, which makes me happy. I have to watch my time, though. If it goes over 120 hours, I'll stop accruing time because we have a cap. I'm only at 91 hours at the moment, so I've got a ways to go.
Everyone have a wonderful Thursday!
