I wanna make your heartbeat run like rollercoasters
Got my sister and brother in law out this morning, and thus, our four days of Dad duty begins. I don' wanna be an adult for that long! I hope they have a lovely time, and enjoy their trip. I just know it's going to be a long weekend for us. Not having any quiet time is going to be rough. Normally, Jess and I have him during the day, then after my sister has been home for a little while, we'll go downstairs and relax for a couple of hours. It will be difficult not having that bit of time to ourselves. It's not that I don't feel like my sister deserves the break. Rationally, I know she does. It's just a lot.
Today, Dad has his intake appointment at a new dentist. We skipped over the general dentistry and went straight for oral surgeon. Today is just a consult to get xrays and discuss what needs to be done. It's still freaking me and my phobias out. Jess offered to take him, but I think that would make me feel worse. I found the dentist, I feel like I should follow it through. Hopefully, the dentist is lovely, and the office is welcoming, and pure stubbornness gets me through easily. Once we get through the consult, I may see if someone else can take him for the actual work. My sister may have to actually take time off to do it.
We took Yoda for his vet visit yesterday. Only to be told that yes, he had diarrhea. (It's improved since we started him on chicken and rice.) Also, he's fat. I think the vet took up more time lecturing us over his fatness than he did on the actual diarrhea. Since he was feeling okay, he got two shots, and is now a very sad puppy. They seem to be really bothering him. A couple of times, he would just whimper for a few seconds for no obvious reason. Today he seems a little tired and out of sorts. Hopefully that'll get better as the weekend goes on so we're not dealing with mopey puppy plus dad.
Tomorrow, we have our game! I have prepped, and poked at the edges of the module to see where I can put my personal stamp on it. I'm sure I'll find something. Inevitably, my players will find something that the module doesn't cover, and then we shall have some fuckery. Since the module has been out for a long time, and since it's been done for multiple Actual Play podcasts, I have no problem posting spoilers, so I will definitely be posting recaps here.
Part of the reason I do recaps is because I think it's fun, and part of it is that it fixes it in my brain. I take horrible notes. I mean, I am the worst at it. But I have a pretty good memory, so it's not a terrible thing. I just find that typing out everything the next day kind of fixes it into my memory. Plus, if I need to refer back, I can always take a look.
Tomorrow, we're starting the Lost Mine of Phandelver. Now on the 22nd, we start Curse of Strahd. I will probably put those recaps behind a cut, since Strahd can deal with some fucked up shit.
