Hot night, wind was blowin'

Wednesday is here, and it's going to be slow as hell. I took off tomorrow, since we have to take the dog to the vet for his tummy upset. It seems to be improving, but I still want him checked over. I just have to get through one more day of work and I can have three days off. Granted, two of those three days will be filled with appointments for the dog and Dad, but still. My markets all came in early yesterday and I was bored enough to do them, so I have absolutely nothing to do today. Coworker J has the Working Reports queue today, so I'll probably help him out with that, but otherwise, I'll be surfing TikTok all day.

I don't feel quite right pulling up Roll20 on my work computer and doing prep work, and Roll20 is not great on mobile, so that's out. I will admit, I am tempted. I've also considered using my work computer to play, and just disabling Teams, so no one can see that I'm online. I've got a good headset that could work really well with Discord. Or, it could be a total shitshow. Hard to say without trying.

My sister is going to be out of town for my Dad's birthday, so I'm trying to think of ways I can make things special for him. We'll celebrate for real when she gets back, but I don't want him to think it's not a big deal. He's 81, and every year is a big deal! I don't know that I'd have gone away for it, but the festival was this weekend, so I guess if she wanted to go, there was no other choice.

I also don't know that I'd be going to a music festival, but that's up to her. Too many people for me in too close proximity, but as long as she doesn't mind taking a covid test or two, it's not really my call. The downside of living with people. Sometimes they make decisions you wouldn't. She'll mask, so hopefully that'll be enough.

Tomorrow, while I'm off, I will reread Lost Mine, paying special attention to the early chapters that we're likely to get to on Saturday. I'm really excited to start this module, even if we're only going to be playing once a month. It seems like it'll be a really fun, breezy module. I probably won't inflict much emotional damage on my players, boo. It's meant to be an introduction to D&D, so they kind of emphasize the adventure parts of it.

Then, next weekend, we have Frostmaiden and Witchlight as well as finishing the misnamed "one shot" I ran as a distraction the day Roe v. Wade was overturned. I need to do a little prep on Witchlight, but nothing heavy. I've read through the parts we're likely to do, so I just need to brush up on it again. I can do that on Friday. Frostmaiden, who the fuck knows where my players will go next? It will be a surprise for everyone--possibly the players as well. I know they need to get the evil wizard to the prison, and convince them to keep him safe, but aside from that, I have no clue. There's a few outstanding side quests, so maybe they'll pick one of them? Or maybe they'll find something completely new to do. I don't even try to predict anymore. It's part of the reason Frostmaiden is so much fun. It always keeps me on my toes.

Okay,I suppose it's time to get ready for work, since I start in 20 minutes. Ugh. Have a good Wednesday, y'all!
