You're wrong when it's right

I am grumpy this morning. It's a combination of the holiday, which I'm very disenchanted by and our fucking neighbors and their fireworks last night. I am aware that most people have off on the 4th, however, (I think around) 11 is too fucking late to be setting them off either way. After that one, I went from resigned to really annoyed, and spent a good chunk of time settling down again. Tonight will be a shitshow, which I am not looking forward to.

The rest of yesterday was incredibly dull. I got all my work done in the first two hours, and despite being asked to do a couple of extra things, most of the day was deadly boring. Add to it that of course, my sister was home chatting away, and by the time I got off of work, I was also thoroughly overstimulated. I fed dad and went directly downstairs to hide for a while. Jess pointed out that I could shut the door, but I'd still be able to hear, and then the cat couldn't come in, and Boodle's occasional visits make me very happy.

Today should be equally fun, as everyone else is off for the holiday. I on the other hand am not, buuut I do get time and a half, so I'm perfectly okay with it.

I honestly spent most of the day in the TTRPG Discord yesterday. I made an invitation for the Curse of Strahd. The players are starting the module at the Duchess Morwen's Liar's Night Masquerade. It's the in-universe version of Halloween, and it seemed like a good place to start a horror novel. Plus, who doesn't love a good masquerade ball? I also rewrote most of the accompanying plot hook. It was my favorite out of the three plot hooks, as it gave the players a little bit more information than the others. It's also the most passive of the plot hooks, which is okay. There's more than enough combat in the module, so I don't think the players will mind not chasing werewolves right off the bat. They can maybe get up to second level before they deal with some fairly major monsters?

I also did some more prep work on Lost Mine, which is our next game on Saturday. I'm looking forward to it, but I'm not nervous about it like I am on Strahd. Lost Mine is pretty straight forward, and not supposed to be scary or have that Gothic horror ambiance. I'm going to have to figure out how to sustain that dread while I'm saying "Roll Initiative." I will work it out, but until we get into it, I will remain anxious about it. Which means that you all will get to hear about it. In vague terms because, no spoilers until we've started playing!

Okay, time for me to go forth and consider clothing. Everyone have a good Monday. Enjoy your day off if you have it!
