Dress up like a moose during hunting season

I am awake earlier than I planned. Apparently, my beloved Boodle decided that we were getting up one way or another, and started coming in around 3 am. She stepped up her game around 5, and was visiting every half hour. I finally gave in around 7. Little fucker. I love her so much. Once she was fed, she settled down and parked her ass in the window to clean her little face sweetly.

Yesterday, I took Dad to the podiatrist, which went fine. It's always stressful for me taking him out, but since I have Fridays off, it's also always me who takes him. Jess has offered, but I would feel guilty making them do that, since they don't like to drive with other people in the car. Next week, we have the first of what I think will be many dental appointments, out in Owings Mills, so traffic should be a joy. At some point, I'm going to have to make him an eye doctor appointment, but it's hard, since I do only have Fridays, and they're booked up for at least the next few weeks. I dislike having to take him places as he is 80, and I worry about him. It tends to be exhausting.

Next weekend, my sister is out of town for the Lancaster Blues Festival. This means we're on Dad duty for 4 days in a row. I'll be sleeping upstairs in my sister's room with the dog, so my sleep will suck. I've been dreading it, while also realizing that she deserves some time away. It'll be fine, just a long few days. (We're not going to think about going to a concert in the time of Covid. It would not be my choice, but she's a grown up.)

We do have a Saturday game while she's away, but that's normally the easiest to manage with Dad. Our schedule is SO full of D&D over the next few weeks, it's awesome. We have games in 7, 13, 14, 15 and 20 days, and more will get scheduled as we tick those off. Mind you that does mean in two weekends we'll have a three day weekend of D&D and my voice will probably be shot by 8:30 on Sunday night, but we'll have so much fun!

Yesterday, I did SO much prep work. I checked the spell list for the game for that night, to decide what spells my doomed caster was going to try to get over at the party. I touched up my game for MotW today. Then, I reread the module that I'm starting next week, and made some decisions about changes, since it has some spiders in it, and I have a player that's a no-go for. It should work out well, and make things more challenging for the players. Fortunately, there's a whole manual of monsters to pick from that are not going to trigger arachnophobia. I'll probably reread it again next Friday, just to make sure I have everything down before game time, and I'll make some decisions about how I want to start the game. The adventure kind of drops you right into it, and I'd like to rewind slightly so the characters can meet and introduce themselves, all that good stuff. Somewhere in there, I'll probably start rereading Strahd, because holy shit it's a LOT. The module is huge and has so many working parts.

We played Frostmaiden last night, and had a great time. The party headed off in search of the evil wizard's hideout that he dropped meteors on them from. He has multiple hideouts, each stocked with clones of himself that he bamfs into whenever they kill him. The party was exceedingly smart, and the wizard wasn't able to do much damage before they managed to subdue him. They decided that they weren't going to kill this one, since he'd just wake up in another clone. Instead, they're going to take him to a prison with an antimagic field where he can't be a problem. To get him there, they turned him into a snail and are carrying him. He'll turn back when he reaches the prison, and will be safely contained. For a while at least.

Okay, time for me to get myself some more coffee and wake up. Gotta run out to get my prescription this morning before the rain starts. Everyone have a wonderful Saturday.
