I think I'm reacting more to the comments than to the fic, maybe...

You're right that the story itself isn't making judgements about Jeff's actions, but I read the comments and was all...really?!? We LIKE Jeff doing this? Huh.

So, great, I totally look forward to reading more and finding out about the backstory. Yay!
