Oh, I just read the two parts of this verse and I adored them.
This is a fantastic concept and so well told, I'd even be all right with the way this part ends:

am closed his eyes and drank in this strange, deep happiness. It was okay. They were going to be okay.

but I'm so greedy and I want more and more. :)
