Yeah, I know. I'm sad and pathetic. But c'mon!

So, it's been awhile since I was in a fandom last. Since the Metallica debacle, actually. After that blew up in everyone's faces, I kind of stepped back, played in small fandoms, or alternately, played on the fringes of large fandoms. (see also: popslash).

So...I was pretty hesitant about getting into a new fandom. I mean, I loved the show. But it hadn't caught me.

Then, came Shadow. Fucking Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Fucking Jensen Ackles. Fucking Jared Padalecki.

For me, that's when it all came together. The moment the three of them were face to face again, with all the hurt, all the unspoken pain, and most of all, the love. The unshed tears, the choked voices, and the carefully chosen words that didn't quite say what they meant to say.

I kind of fell in love.

So, then as usual,

nilchance sucked me in. And so I quietly read fic, and was happy. Then, the cocktease of a season finale begat "Of Bastard Saints." And suddenly, I was back in fandom.

Y'know what? I think I love it a little.

SPN fandom is sparkly, and fun, and sure we have our spats, but for the most part, we just play in our parts of the sandbox, and ignore the parts we don't like.

I've already had the pleasure of meeting

mona1347 and in two weeks!!!! at the first ever Winchester Con, I'm so looking forward to meeting everyone else, especially people who I talk to regularly, and who's work I admire like

coiledsoul and

poisontaster and

maygra.

So yeah. Commence the squeeing!
