Do you walk in the shadow of men who sold their lives to a dream

It's Friday! Yay! I probably am going to use my day off to do some couches. This is going to be a bitch. The new couches look relatively straight forward to put together, it's getting the old couches out that I'm not looking forward to. As I recall, they were a a pain in the ass to get in, so I'm sure they're going to be difficult to get out. Still, I really want a couch with intact springs, so I'm going to suck it up and heft some shit.

Yesterday was more eventful than expected. I had been at work for about an hour and forty five minutes when there was a loud bang outside, and our power went out. It stayed out for two hours, which was PTO I didn't really want to use, but oh well. It finally came back up just before noon, and I hopped back on and went back to doing my favorite thing: the inbox. It was my backup day, but the primary person was out, so I ended up doing it all. It was the only thing I got done yesterday.

I had my meeting with the head of our department, which went okay. It was me and about six other people. We all aired a few things we think could be done better, we managed not to be accusatory. That was about it.

Apparently, in preparation for the meeting, the transport company is going to get overly critical and bitchy. They sent an email basically detailing the way that one of my coworkers is not doing her job. They're not wrong, but damn. It was sent to the operational director as well, so after some consideration, I brought it to our manager's attention. Better to see it up front than get blindsided by the OD in a couple of days. To be honest, I was also a little peeved at the coworker. I bust my ass on my markets, and she's just breezing through, putting a comment on every fifth or sixth line. I still felt like a bit of a narc telling the manager, though.

At some point today I have to get myself together and go get my sister's birthday cupcakes. She requested them from Cake by Jason. They're her favorite, so off I shall go. I'm hoping if I go early that they may have donuts, too. Their donuts are freshly made and amazing. I also need to go get my sister a birthday card from Jess and I and one from Dad.

It's going to be a busy day, I think! And on that note, more coffee and time to get my shit together. Have a great Friday, everyone!
